Another one of the big games being talked about during Nintendo’s Media Summit was Metroid: Other M.
Nintendo could confirm the report from IGN Australia and dated Metroid: Other M for a release date of June 27 in the US. Unfortunately nothing was said of a European release date.
“When you finish playing this, you’re going to feel like you know Samus in a way you’ve never known her before,” said Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway.
That certainly sounds awesome. So mark your calendars for June 27.
Rumour has it that a fifth Dead or Alive game could be in-the-making, according to an article published on Go Fanboy yesterday.
Apparently, European retailers are being informed via distribution channels that a follow-up to Xbox exclusive Dead or Alive 4 is ‘in the works’, and it looks like it will be going multi-platform. Immediately the PlayStation 3 springs to mind as a potential candidate.
Nothing is definite at this time, as we have little more than Go Fanboy’s word to go on. However, we’re going to keep our ear to the ground on this one.
Being a massive Tekken fan, I would be interested to see, should rumour become reality, whether Tecmo’s Team Ninja can sway me from Namco’s prestigious fighting franchise.
Though Nintendo’s E3 press conference was incredibly dull, it did end on a high note. According to Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo was still aiming to please their core audiences, and had teamed up with a developer of mature titles to bring a new spin to one of Sony’s key franchises.
Nintendo has been working with Team Ninja, of all people, to bring us a new Metroid game, subtitled “Other M”. A gameplay trailer, as well as some incredibly looking cinematics showed Samus Aran running, fighting and blasting her way through various planets. Interestingly, the game seems to use both first and third person gameplay. Various shots were shown through Samus’ visor, while other combat situations had the camera placed outside Samus’ suit.
The graphics looked slick and the entire game ran smoothly on the Wii’s hardware. There was also voice acting to be heard, not only from NPCs, but also from Samus herself.
Metroid: Other M is scheduled for a 2010 release
Any self respecting child of the 80’s and 90’s has to love them some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Whether it’s the comic or the animated series that tickles your fancy, the turtles have always been awesome at what they do best: being ninjas and kung-fu fighting.
Co-developed by Team Ninja and Game Arts, TMNT: Smash Up brings TMNT characters into an all out brawl with each other, in various urban and not so urban environments. From the gameplay video it takes obvious inspiration from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which Game Arts worked on, but also features environmental hazards as well as voice acting.
Confirmed characters in addition to the turtles so far include Shredder, Master Splinter and April O’Neill. I wouldn’t be surprised if Karai and Casey Jones make appearances as well.

According to the popular Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, PS3 owners are set to get another go at the Ninja for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.
The game seems to be a modified version of the Xbox 360 Ninja Gaiden 2. Images in the magazine depict several environments and characters, including Ayane from the Dead or Alive series.
