Marvel vs. Capcom 3 unveil four new characters
Comic-Con is this week! We like Comic-Con. The convention started out as strictly comic book focused, but has since grown to immense size, and to be a celebration of all things geek. Comics, movies, TV, and yes, video games too.
Naturally, comic book focused games are representing the strongest, and Capcom is using the occasion to reveal four new characters from the MvC3 roster, two from each side.
High resolution Marvel vs. Capcom 3 screenshots
The Capcom Unity blog has given us some of the high resolution versions of the previously leaked Game Informer images, as well as some brand new ones.
The game’s producer, Ryota Niitsuma also commented on the pictures, explaining how they are going for a very comic-booky look, as well as bringing back some of the over-the-top attacks from the previous games with a more, *ahem*, “realistic” look. Have a look-see for yourself in the gallery below!
Random Awesomeness: How to play as Ken
Like Street Fighter? Sure you do! Do you have Super Street Fighter IV and like to play it online? Well, of course you do – you like Street Fighter!
Who’s your favorite character? Ken? Well, you’re in luck! We’re bringing you a little gem from the internet that will surely help you in your endeavor to become the world’s best Street Fighter player.
Random Awesomeness: Street Fighter Legacy

Hollywood tried, and Hollywood failed. Twice, even. But where a big scale production fails, one fan may succeed. The Street Fighter fan film, also known as Street Fighter Legacy has been made on a well-spent shoestring budget, resulting in a clear-cut, focused three minute short. Creator, co-writer, co-director and choreographer Joey Ansah focuses on the important things from the Street Fighter franchise: Ryu, Ken and one on one fighting. The best part of it all? The project is fully endorsed by Capcom!
The awesomeness might not be so random this time around, but awesome it sure is. Street Fighter Legacy is on par with the opening cutscene from Street Fighter 4, which says a lot about the hard work and dedication that’s gone into this project. Sit back, relax, enjoy and remember to support Ansah in all his future endeavors. Read the rest of this entry »
Capcom’s profit plummets, down 73%
Apparently the economy isn’t doing so hot these days. Many game publishers are feeling this recently, and especially Capcom. The Japan based publisher posted their financial results for the last 12 months today, and it’s not looking too hot.
Their profits are down by 73%, while sales are down 23%. Notice that these are the profits, so they’re still earning money. They’re just earning a lot less money than last year. Still, in a capitalist system that’s based on growth every year, that’s not a very good thing, and it could mean a whole lot less money to throw around on development.
Capcom is staying optimistic, though. While blaming the drop on weak-selling titles like Bionic Commando and Dark Void, they also mention that the cause is in part the delay of Super Street Fighter IV, Monster Hunter Tri and Lost Planet 2 in the West. That’s why, they say, they will come back even stronger next year. I hope they do, it’s always sad to see a game company take a hit like this.
Last Super Street Fighter IV character, Hakan, revealed
Capcom has just announced the final character in the Super Street Fighter IV line-up, a new character by the name of Hakan.
Lets just say he’s… different, and leave it at that.
The video is under the cut, if you’re willing to take the dive.
New Super Street Fighter IV trailer shows off Cody, Guy and Adon
As you may recall, Adon, Cody and Guy were confirmed for Super Street Fighter IV in Famitsu recently, and now we have a video showing off the characters in all their HD, 3D glory.
Fans will no doubt be impressed with how well these characters’ moves have been translated to Street Fighter IV. As an avid Adon and Guy player myself, I’m especially impressed with what they’ve done with these two characters.
Check out the trailer for yourself, after the cut.
Adon, Cody and Guy confirmed for Super Street Fighter IV
This one is sure to please the Street Fighter fans. Famitsu has just announced Adon, along with Final Fight’s Cody and Guy (looking like they did in Street Fighter Alpha 3) as playable characters in Super Street Fighter IV.
The scans from Famitsu show the characters in their Street Fighter IV interpretation. and they’re extremely faithful to their original designed, but updated for the HD generation.
Check them out below.
Car smashing to be part of SSFIV
According to a story on Siliconera, Super Street Fighter IV will be cranking up the nostalgia. The car smashing and barrel breaking bonus stages from Street Fighter II are making a triumphant return. This is revealed in a scan from Famitsu magazine.
Famitsu could also reveal details about SSFIV’s online modes. New options will include Team Battles, supporting 2 on 2 and 4 on 4, and a Replay Channel. The matches themselves are still one on one, but Team mode will allow clans to meet up and get a common score.
Capcom has also added Endless Mode, which lets eight players meet up and fight.
One word people: Awesome!
Super Street Fighter IV officially announced
Capcom has just officially announced Super Street Fighter IV, an upgraded version of the existing game with a plethora of new characters and features.
The game will release as a stand-alone disc; this will not be DLC. The good news? It won’t be selling at full price, a good move on Capcom’s part which gives a strong incentive for existing owners of Street Fighter IV to pick up this improved edition of the game.
The game will include include eight characters (although this has yet to be finalised), including classic characters T. Hawk and Dee Jay, and new characters Juri. Who the other five characters will turn out to be is anyone’s guess, but fan favourites from Street Fighter Alpha (and at least one character from Street Fighter III) is a safe guess.
As long as they balance the game so that Sagat and Ken are no longer so over-powered as to be the only characters picked by 99.99% of the player-base, I’ll be happy.
The game is due for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 next spring. Excited?
Capcom: “We have very high expectations” for SFIV
Talking to the press today, Capcom seems enthusiastic (and rightfully so) about the launch of Street Fighter IV this Friday, and is expecting major financial success from this game.
“If buzz and anticipation equates to sales then we have very high expectations commercially,” said a rep. ““We’re tremendously excited to be launching Street Fighter IV this Friday.”
“It’s the return of the most loved, most played, most bought and most copied fighting game of all time. And Street Fighter IV is the best Street Fighter yet.”
And seeing as even the most hardcore fighting fans have been softening to this game very quickly, many of can agree that not just Capcom stroking their own egos.
Players report problems with Mad Catz SFIV stick

According to recent reports by hardcore Street Fighter players have noticed a problem with the standard version of the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV stick.
Members of the Shoryuken message board have pointed out that the joystick gets stuck in the former diagonal position instead of snapping back to the neutral centre point.
“There is a small metal washer between the body of the joystick and spring cap. The washer moves around and the plastic spring cap gets stuck on the grooves where the washer is supposed to sit,” explained one disgruntled user.
Its important to note that the problem has only been reported in the lower cost model. The high cost tournament standard version works just dandy. Consider yourself warned in advanced, should you have any plans to go out and purchase one.
Street Fighter IV, for both PS3 and Xbox 360, sold out in Japan on its first day at retail, and will be hitting US and EU shores later this week.
