Square Enix has decided to drop the TGS trailer for Final Fantasy XIV despite the fact the show is just under a full three weeks away. It’s weird timing, but the trailer itself is pretty damn awesome.

Dungeon Siege III debut trailer

Square Enix has been curteous enough to release the debut trailer of Dungeon Siege III. Unfortunately, as is fitting a debut trailer, it tells us almost nothing, just exposits on kingdoms being lost and all that familiar jazz.
Dungeon Siege III is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the chaps who seem to only be doing sequels. Trailer can be found after the cut.
Wada: “Difficult to determine” where Final Fantasy should “go”
Yoichi Wada spoke with Gamasutra and said that it would be “difficult to determine” what would follow Final Fantasy XIII, which was released back in March of this year.
The Square-Enix president said the team was having trouble deciding whether the Final Fantasy games should become something of a new type or not.
Square Enix to release new trailer for FFXIV tomorrow

The Gaming Vault received a message from the guys at Square Enix today regarding the release of a trailer for the newest installment in the Final Fantasy series.
“Heads up!
Square Enix are releasing a brand new 3 minute trailer for Final Fantasy XIV tomorrow at 10pm GMT!
We’ll be sending out details regarding where you can get your mitts on these during the day tomorrow.
Have a great day/evening depending on which part of the world you’re currently in!”
Just like Microsoft gave everybody in the audience a new Xbox 360 Slim, including our very own Alex Donaldson, it looks like Square Enix will be handing out trailers for Final Fantasy XIV. Not exactly sure yet what this means. Will the trailers be handed out in DVD format? USB stick? Flip book?
We’ll find out tomorrow morning! Be sure to stay tuned for the latest E3 updates. As soon as we get our hands on this trailer, you can bet the first thing we’re gonna do is show it off for you.
“She’d better be worth it, Lynch!” – Kane & Lynch 2 E3 Trailer
Square Enix have just released the E3 2010 trailer for Kane & Lynch 2, titled “She’d better be worth it, Lynch!” It shows off Lynch’s possibly misleaded desire to protect his new girlfriend, Xiu.
It also shows off a bunch of the actual gameplay. We’ll be on hand at E3 to test out Kane & Lynch 2 ourselves, and TGV’s very own Michael O’Connor will be interviewing some of the staff on the game.
Check out the trailer below.
Kojima teaming up with Square Enix?
Shinji Hashimoto, one of the Square Enix suits, and the guy in charge of their twitter account, tweeted today to tell us about a collaboration between them and Hideo Kojima. Above is a picture of the meeting, with Kojima on the right, Hashimoto in the middle, and MGS art director Yoji Shinkawa.
Now, this may be nothing. They have collaborated before, Square doing the figures for Peace Walker, as well has having Front Mission Evolved items appear in the game, so this may be nothing more than that. Still, info like this is enough to get the fan gears churning.
Sequel O’Clock: Dungeon Siege III, Kingdom Hearts & Criterion
More E3 build-up, and more upcoming games! Square has announced Dungeon Siege III, while Nomura and Criterion are teasing their next titles, pending their reveal at E3.
Check out the Deus Ex 3 E3 trailer
We’re a little bit late to the party with this, but this trailer is so awesome it deserves to be seen by all of you TGV readers.
Square Enix just released the first E3 trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and it’s full of Square Enix CGI goodness courtesy of the same team that bought you Final Fantasy XIII and Advent Children’s beautiful cinematics.
Check it out below. We’ll be on hand to see Square Enix at E3, so hopefully we’ll get some face time with Deus Ex, which is due for release in 2011.
Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light Announced for the West
Square Enix have announced that they’ll be releasing Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light in the West this Fall/Autumn in Europe, with a US confirmation to follow later today.
The DS spin-off has had a slight name change for the localization, as it was released in Japan as Final Fantasy Gaiden: Four Warriors of Light.
The title is a back-to-basics Final Fantasy title, with a turn-based battle system, four heroes, crystals and kingdoms. It’s designed to harken back to the NES Final Fantasy titles.
The game’s likely to be at E3 so we’ll bring you our thoughts and impressions from the show. Stick with us for the latest on Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light.
Square will “explore” the possibility of an FFVII remake
This dead horse: we’re flogging it. A few days ago Motomu Toriyama, the game director behind FFXIII said he would very much like to remake Final Fantasy VII, a remake fans have been clamouring for ever since the PS3 tech demo of E3 2005.
To add further fuel to the fire that will never die out comes Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada with a statement that is sure to once again split the fanbase:
“Many fans have requested we remake Final Fantasy VII. We’re going to explore the possibility – whether or not we’re going to do it, if we’re going to do it, and the platform.”
Meaning it might not even be on the PS3. Holy controversial statement, Batman, a Final Fantasy game not on the Sony PlayStation! What is this, the early 90′s? Assuming it happens of course. Which it probably won’t, but hope springs eternal.
Square announces new iPhone game, Chaos Rings [updated]
Square Enix has announced that they are publishing a game for the iPhone/iPod Touch platform, called Chaos Rings.
The title is being developed by Media Vision, most known for the Wild Arms series. According to The Lost Gamer, the story is that 5 pairs of warriors are trapped in an arena and forced to fight in a tournament, in order to gain eternal youth. In addition, there’s a free-roaming portion of the game, where you can level up your character, and do all the other things you do in the open-world portion of Squeenix games.
Looking at the trailer, it’s pretty obvious that their entire design document was just one sentence: “Make Final Fantasy, except on the iPhone.” And you know what? I’m okay with that. If I can get my fix of floating numbers, turn-based combat and weird hairstyles while on the bus, then I’m a happy camper.
Nomura (vaguely) hints at Dissidia sequel
Dissidia: Final Fantasy seemed like every Final Fantasy fans wet dream. A fighting game featuring the protagonists and antagonists from the 12 numbered games does sound pretty awesome. And it was, garnering a metacritic score of 79/100.
And when games are popular and sell a lot of copies, there’s a high probability of a sequel being made. When asked about a possible Dissidia sequel in a Twitter interview (yes those exist), SqueEnix character designer Tetsuya Nomura had this to say:
“I’ll do my best for a sequel to Dissidia Final Fantasy!”
Note that he said “for a sequel”, hopefully meaning the guy will sell the idea to the Square top brass post haste. Though it does make we ponder which characters would star in a sequel to Dissidia.
Square Enix’s Kane & Lynch 2 arriving in August
Square Enix have confirmed that they’ll be releasing the Eidos title Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days this August in both Europe and the US.
The game will arrive in the US on August 24th, followed by a UK release on August 27th.
The game is yet another Western-centric property Square Enix have inherited from buying Eidos along with properties like Hitman and Tomb Raider.
Fans who register over on the game’s website can grab themselves some in-game downloads for free.
Square Enix hiring for next generation gaming engine

Well, this is interesting. According to Andriasang, Square Enix’s recruit page has a listing looking for staff for work on a “next generation” gaming engine.
“At Square Enix, in anticipation of the appearance of next generation platforms, we’ve started development on a new generation game engine for competing beyond the level of the strong developers throughout the world, and are presently seeking a lot of talent.”
Square used the image of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII in the listing, but we probably shouldn’t read into that too much – it’s most likely just a picture for the sake of promoting the company’s image. The FFVII remake rumours stopped running their course a long time ago.
Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution – trailers and screenshots

You might remember this trailer for Deus Ex 3, which didn’t really tell us much of anything about the game. In fact, there’s no gameplay in the video. There’s really nothing in the video at all, except for some abstract… Stuff.
Well, we’ve got a new trailer for you, which shows off a little more than “stuff”.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see any combat in this trailer, either. But we do get to see what appears to be the main character having some sort of trippy, angelic dream where he flies into the sun and burns.
It’s unclear whether or not you’ll be playing as JC Denton or another clone of him like the previous titles, but the likeness is uncanny, so I feel it’s a safe bet that you play as another clone again.
We’ve got some screenshots and the new trailer after the jump.
