Rock Band developer Harmonix have confirmed that layoffs are on the way, but nothing has been said about how many are going to end up on the chopping block. According to Rock Band Aide, who fished out a post on the Rock Band Forums by Rock Band Network author Ron over at Alt-Strum Productions, alternative rockers Alien Ant Farm will have their first major label album, ANThology, released progressively via the Network.

Harmonix has confirmed that they have bought themselves from Viacom and will now operate independently.
Wow, looks like Viacom were way ready for this. They said they gave Harmonix shareholders opportunities to cash-in, but the offers were declined.
According to an exclusive post on Gamasutra, Harmonix shareholders, including founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, have decided to take legal action against soon-to-be ex-parent company Viacom, stating that Viacom had a hand in manipulation of costs to avoid paying out performance-based bonuses.
It’s not actually Europe coming to Rock Band next week, but we are getting a slew of popular artists from the continent, as well as a special Christmas song “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and The Plastic Ono Band just in time for the holiday (sorry, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah)!
