Internet funny man David Thorne received an electricity bill for more than his usual amount. I’m sure you know that a series of comical e-mails ensued after he received the bill in the mail. He blamed Aperture Science, He-Man and a Large Hadron Collider for his astronomically high bill. And rightly so, too.
Random Awesomeness: HUGE Gundam model made from leftovers
Title’s pretty self-explanatory. It’s a 10-foot Gundam model made out of Gundam model leftovers. You know the little plastic left over from the model parts which held the parts in place? Yeah, it’s made entirely out of those. And it’s awesome.
It’s not incredibly badass, life-sized and lights up at night, but damn impressive at the very least.
Check out the images after the cut.
Random Awesomeness: Epic Gaming History Rap

Nerd culture is a wonderful thing, especially when songs are being made about comics, animation and video games. From Kirby Krackle to Johnathan Coulton, there’s a vast array of game related music to be found. And here’s one of them.
Dan Bull, “The king of British geek rap”, relates his life in gaming through the medium of song. Rap to be more specific. There’s a lot of delicious nostalgia, as well as two decades of gaming packed into four minutes. He’s a damned good rapper too!
Enjoy
Random Awesomeness: Limbo on the PS3?

Not quite, but it certainly comes close. Thanks to the wonders of one particularly talented creator, the Xbox 360 exclusive has been faithfully recreated in the PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet, and in impressive detail.
Is there anything this game can’t do? Apparently not!
Random Awesomness: Joseph Gordon-Levitt talks Street Fighter

Inception is currently playing in cinemas all over the world, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the big stars of said movie. You might also know him as Tommy from 3rd Rock From the Sun. But did you also know he’s something of a gamer? Revealed, of all things, on the Jimmy Fallon show.
Random Awesomeness: Video Wars
I’ve never been very good at drawing, which is why I’m so fascinated by artists and painters who are able to create fantastic works of art with mere pencils, paint, Photoshop or spray cans. And a lot of those same artists can be found on busy city streets, or on the internet.
DeviantArt user jnkboy has made an incredible video game mock up of the original Star Wars: A New Hope film poster. And it’s awesome, containing references to all sorts of sci-fi games like Metroid, Star Fox, Space Invaders, Space Quest, Mass Effect, Halo, Wing Commander, Asteroids and several others. His works has been featured on the covers of Swedish game publication Level, and is a perfect fit for Random Awesomeness.
Random Awesomeness: Yoshi and friends – Baby Mario

To anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past few months, Justin Bieber is the annoying 15 year old “singer” who looks like he’s 12 and sounds like he’s 4. His one-hit-wonder “Baby” featuring Ludacris has been clogging up the airways of pop radio stations, not to mention the brainwaves of tweens everywhere. Yet somehow, someone’s managed to make Bieber’s song into something game related and quite heartwarming.
YouTube user AGentertainment has created his own cover version of Bieber’s song “Baby”, turning it into Yoshi singing about his comeback in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Fair warning, though, as the song is a massive earworm that will most likely stay in your brain for a long time.
Random Awesomeness: How to play as Ken
Like Street Fighter? Sure you do! Do you have Super Street Fighter IV and like to play it online? Well, of course you do – you like Street Fighter!
Who’s your favorite character? Ken? Well, you’re in luck! We’re bringing you a little gem from the internet that will surely help you in your endeavor to become the world’s best Street Fighter player.
Random Awesomeness: Street Fighter Legacy

Hollywood tried, and Hollywood failed. Twice, even. But where a big scale production fails, one fan may succeed. The Street Fighter fan film, also known as Street Fighter Legacy has been made on a well-spent shoestring budget, resulting in a clear-cut, focused three minute short. Creator, co-writer, co-director and choreographer Joey Ansah focuses on the important things from the Street Fighter franchise: Ryu, Ken and one on one fighting. The best part of it all? The project is fully endorsed by Capcom!
The awesomeness might not be so random this time around, but awesome it sure is. Street Fighter Legacy is on par with the opening cutscene from Street Fighter 4, which says a lot about the hard work and dedication that’s gone into this project. Sit back, relax, enjoy and remember to support Ansah in all his future endeavors. Read the rest of this entry »
Random Awesomeness: Pokémon of the Damned
There are a lot of terrifying things in the world of Pokémon. An endless stream of Zubats attacking you in a cave, Cynthia’s Garchomp, Lance’s three Dragonites…
But this?
I’m…not really sure what to say about this. What is there to say? Click the link to see more, but don’t blame me if you’re scarred forever.
Random Awesomeness: Star Fox is Down
I’ve decided to expand the Random Awesomeness series from just videos to pictures as well, because this thing is just too darned awesome to not repost.
As much as I hate people dressing up their dogs, this is one dressed up dog that gets my seal of approval…
Random Awesomeness: 8-Bit Dr. Horrible
I love Joss Whedon: Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Angel; Firefly; Serenity, and I even liked Dollhouse. And while it might be a bit silly, I’m also a pretty big fan of musicals. So it goes without saying that I absolutely loved Dr. Horrible, Whedon’s musical superhero spoof.
So why am I talking about Joss Whedon on a video game website, you might ask? Well, it has to do with the video featured in this edition of Random Awesomeness. A YouTuber calling himself “DoctorOctoroc” has created his own take on Whedon’s Dr. Horrible project, by reproducing it as a hypothetical 8-bit video game. The entire first act is represented as an old NES game: from the graphics to the soundtrack, and it’s simply awesome.
Random Awesomeness: Kids choir performs Still Alive
If you’re new to this feature, Random Awesomeness is where we find awesome gaming related videos online and post them here, for everyone’s enjoyment. We’ve previously had fun with a Zero Wing remix, Mario not wanting to stop, a girl destroying a console and a guy being rickrolled.
As gamers we spend a lot of time on the internet, and the internet is not good for anything if not to create memes. And a fantastic source of new memes is Valve’s Portal. Even if you haven’t played the game (like me) you’ve bound to have heard about the cake being a lie and the Weighted Companion Cube. But my favourite thing from Portal is the song “Still Alive”. While it’s awesome enough when sung on its own by GLaDOS herself, it’s even more awesome when sung by The Gifford Children’s Choir of Racine WI USA.
Random Awesomeness: Zero Wing Rhapsody
All of us here at TGV love us some Zero Wing, especially the amazingly humorous Engrish translation. My personal favourite is “someone set up us the bomb”, but most gamers are familiar with “All Your Base are Belong to Us”.
The guys at Too Much Spare Time Animation have made a hilarious mashup of Zero Wing’s opening scene and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The sheer amounts of awesome contained in this video can’t be described by words alone, so I’ll just let the video do the talking.
Random Awesomeness: Girl smashes Xbox with a golf club
Guys, do you have girlfriends? Could it be you spend a wee bit too much time on your console rather than paying attention to your girlfriend? I would advise you to stop, put the controller down and give her more than a few minutes, or something like the following video just might happen to you.
Some girl decided that she was fed up with her boyfriends video game addiction and decided to take action. So she promptly smashed his Xbox 360 with a golf club, hoping this would send a clear enough message. But not only that, she decided to post it online, allowing all of us to enjoy her rather feeble and girly, but heartfelt(?), attempts at destroying an Xbox 360.
