Gotta hand it to Sony this time. While they undeniably screwed up big time by managing the entire PlayStation Network in such an insecure manner, they’re at least making good on their goof. On Sony’s official blog, they announced yesterday that they will offer all PSN/Qriocity users a free year’s worth of identity theft prevention services, utilizing the AllClear ID PLUS service, provided by Debix.

The 20th of April the PlayStation Network went offline, thanks to hackers, or as Sony would say of them, “a criminal cyber-attack on the company’s data center located in San Diego.” Now, 10 days later, we get word from Kazuo Hirai, the second-in-command for Sony that the PSN will return this week!
