Journalistic integrity and objectivity aside, I’ll admit that I liked Mirror’s Edge. It had some pretty good ideas behind it, but something of a flawed execution.
Developer DICE, however, are refusing to comment on whether or not development of a sequel is going on.
“I can’t really comment on that because we haven’t officially announced that we’re working on it” said DICE producer, Karl-Magnus Todesson in an interview with NowGamer.
“But we were very happy and proud of Mirror’s Edge one as a studio, so we are thinking about what we are going to do in the future.”
Todesson also added that while DICE is dedicated to the FPS genre, it’s important for them to find other projects to turn into IPs. According to him we’ll be seeing more of these other projects and IPs in the future.
EA’s Patrick Söderlund said during E3 that a small development team over at DICE in Sweden is currently working on the sequel to their parkour action platformer; Mirror’s Edge 2. Söderlund said he was “excited” over the plans for the sequel.
“Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move,” the VP told VideoGamer in an interview. “The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.
“You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do.”
No other details was put forth at that time. Personally I loved Mirror’s Edge, despite constantly dying, so I’m definitely psyched about a sequel. More news when they pop up.
Swedish developer DICE have released a downloadable Time Trial Map for Mirror’s Edge on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
In these maps there will be no cityscape, no cops and no guns, just pure aesthetics and freerunning goodness.
The pack includes nine different courses on seven redesigned maps, and is available for 800 MS Points.
Full press release after the break
DICE, the developer of Mirrors Edge, has just released the specs of the PC version of the game.
See the full details under the cut.

Electronic Arts and DICE confirmed today that Mirror’s Edge’s first batch of downloadable content will be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store this coming January.
The downloadable content will bring with it nine additional Time Trial races, set in an abstract world setting. The nine abstractly designed levels will be spread across seven new maps that with no guards or guns, and will be focused entirely on the the running.
The PS3 version of Mirror’s Edge will come with one additional race over the 360 version. Nothing to cry home about I’m afraid, PS3 fanboys. It’s no Lost and Damned, I’m afraid.

EA has released a new story trailer for upcoming first person platformer, Mirror’s Edge. The trailer in question offers more background on what runners are, and more importantly, what they do.

I’m trying my hardest to compose myself as I write this… the Mirror’s Edge demo has just gone up on the PlayStation store, and will be up on the Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow.
The demo level basically takes you through a tutorial of the game’s mechanics, and teaches you how to make the best of your free-running abilities. One thing is for certain… it’s definately a game of skill, but the sense of achievement when you start learning to run without slowing down, keeping your pace, and jumping the rooftops at breathtaking speed and without pause, is the most exhilarating sensation you could ever experience in a video game.
Can you tell I’m excited?
If you haven’t downloaded the demo yet… get up off your butt and do so! Then come back here as fast as your legs can carry you, and let us know what you think!
Sackboy takes on the role of Faith, as he jumps and runs his way through LittleBigPlanet levels designed after the Mirror’s Edge game.
Looks like these are gonna become a regular thing…

Welcome to the first in what will hopefully become a regular feature here on TGV – The Achievements Vault. In each instalment, we will take a look at the Xbox 360 achievements for an upcoming title.
Mirror’s Edge, the unique wall-running game from DICE and Electronic Arts, with an art design to die for, gets the honour of being the first game featured.
Feel free to share your thoughts on the game’s achievements. Do you think they’re varied enough? Maybe you think they’re lazy and could be improved upon? Whatever your thoughts, let us know!
Microsoft has listed the games it will be showing at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan this week. It includes the Square Enix RPG’s The Last Remnant and Star Ocean: The Last Hope.
TGS will be seeing the first playable appearance of The Last Hope, which still has a release date for this year in Japan.
As well as RPGs, Microsoft will be demonstrating Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Fable II and a host of third-party games at its TGS booth

DICE has released a new story trailer for Mirror’s Edge that delves into the backstory of the game, and the history of lead protagonist Faith.
It looks beautiful. No need to say any more than that, other than “enjoy”.
Mirror’s Edge hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 13th.
E.A have just released a batch of new screenshots for Mirror’s Edge, and its world is looking as unnaturally clean as it always has. It’s certainly a striking art direction.
There are also rumours abounding that a demo for the game will hit the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace this week, but considering how far away the game’s release is, the validity of this rumour should definately be taken with a pinch of salt.
Mirror’s Edge is due out on November 11th in the US, and November 14th in Europe, with a PC release slated for “late winter”.
