Yes, that’s a type of cheese. Anyway…
Media Molecule has just announced the details of its upcoming LittleBigPlanet “Leerdammer” update, which adds a feature that sackboy fans around the world have been anticipating since the game’s release… the ability to create levels online with other players! Yay!
Also included in the update is improved network coding to significantly reduce lag during online play, changes to the way the game is saved, and extra profile space, alongside many other improvements.
The update goes life on November 30th.

In an interview with Critical Gamer, Media Molecule has dismissed the possibility of a LittleBigPlanet 2.
But don’t be sad Sackboy lovers; the opinion of Level Designer Danny Leaver is that making a second game would be ‘counterproductive’, as it would more than likely fragment the well-established LBP community, so they do have our best interests at heart.
We think you’ll agree the post-launch support in terms of DLC and software updates has been absolutely first rate, and Producer Martin Lynagh says ‘that’s the way it’s going to continue’, which makes us very happy indeed.
Media Molecule has just updated their blog with the announcement that Watchmen DLC will be hitting LittleBigPlanet in this Thursday’s PlayStation Store update.
Unfortunately, a naked blue Dr. Manhattan isn’t amongst the cast of characters, but you’ll still be able to dress up as Silk Spector, Rorschach, Night Owl, and Ozymandias!
Best sackboy costumes ever? Quite possibly.
Media Molecule are asking the question “Who you gonna call?” on their website. Those with half a brain and a memory of the 80’s and 90’s know the answer: The Ghostbusters.
So what will it be? Will we be seeing a Sackboy running around with a jumpsuit and Proton Pack, or maybe a Sackboy turned Slimer? Whatever it is, we can’t wait.
Team Ico fans rejoice! This Thursday, LittleBigPlanet will be receiving a new costume patch which will add not only characters from Team Ico self-named PS2 classic, Ico, but it’s spiritual sequel Shadow of the Colossus as well.
From Ico, Media Molecule will be adding sackboy costumes for Ico and Yorda from the first game.
Media Molecule has just updated their website with images of the costumes based on Shadow of the Colossus that will appear in their Team Ico costume pack, which includes sackboy variants of Wander and two different colossus seen in the game.
The pack won’t just include costumes though; Media Molecule has just confirmed that it will also come with stickers and sound effects as well.
Below are the wonderfully charming new Sackboy costumes in all their glory.

It’s the game that just keeps on giving… today, ELSPA has just awarded Media Molecule’s adorable LittleBigPlanet Gold Status, meaning that Sony’s flagship title has sold over 200,000 copies in the UK.
The game is continue to sell steadily despite dropping out of the UK Top Ten the week after its release, where it debuted at 4th place.
Sony has regularly labelled the game as an “evergreen” tittle, in that it will continue to sell for months to come, the company believes. Sony blamed a crowded holiday season for the title modest debut in the charts.
Personally, I don’t care where it is in the charts. It’s a beautiful game however it sells.
LittleBigPlanet has just been patched to to v1.07, with a few extra additions, including an in-game store for buying ne content, and improved search functions.
The LittleBigStore shows all the downloadable content available for the game, and lets you instantly equip your sackperson thing with gear you’ve already purchased
Search functionality has also been improved. You will now be able to view the highest rated levels, the most hearted levels, the newest levels and the most visited levels. As with the previous system, you will also be search for levels via a text string, or via tags. This should make finding cool levels all the easier.
You gotta love this game, don’t you? It’s the game that just keeps on giving.

The PlayStation Asia site has announced today that it will be releasing the MGS4 Level Pack… soon. As in, we know its coming out. We just don’t know when.
For the Level pack it states
“Send Sackboy™ into a covert world of stealth and intrigue with this downloadable collection of Metal Gear™ Solid goodies.”
Though, the level packs doesn’t actually contain any levels, just awesome costumes and stickers.

Social networking site Facebook has a long-standing reputation as a high quality social networking website, but it looks like its days may finally be numbered, thanks to enterprising new social site… Sackbook!
Us human have FaceBook to keep us connected and informed, but the lowly sack-people of LittleBigPlanet have long been without, way to connect and network with each other. Now, thanks to Sackbook, they can finally come together.
“Sackbook is a fan-site (ie not official) that lets you search, browse and attempt to make sense of the plethora of user-generated content that fills LittleBigPlanet,” says the site by way of explanation.
“If Facebook, Flickr and LittleBigPlanet somehow had LittleIllegitimateOffspring, they’d probably be something like this.”
Trust me, it’s brilliant! Check it out for yourself at the link below.

Sackboy plushies have been the object od desire since Little Big Planet was released, and finally, such a possession has been commercially made, Japan is getting the official Sackboy squeeze toys this month and they are allready available to purchase off Play Asia.
The online retailer currently sells four different version of Sackboy, Normal, Pirate, Soldier and Sunflower at the price of $9.90.
Import them, or wait for the North American plushies we know must be coming soon.
They’d better.
Earlier last month, Capcom had hinted at a little surprise they will be puttin gonto the PSN during the holidays which some rumors led many fans to believe be that Street Fighter’s characters would be making their way into Little Big Planet.
A Spanish Playstation community site PSNow, contained what may be the first images of the costumes appearing including versions of Chun-Li, Guile and Ryu.
You should look carefully at the images while you still can as SCEE has asked a number of sites containing these images to take them down.

Just how freakin’ epic does that look? And the best part about this slice of LittleBigPlanet downloadable content? The turkey head will set you back the grand sum of… $0.00!
It’s free!
Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, Sony have put a free downloadable LittleBigPlanet costume up on the US PlayStation Store… which consists of nothing more than a turkey head plopped right on sackboy’s shoulders in the most epic fashion possible.
They’ve also added a Chimera Sackboy (or Sackgirl) costume based on Resistance 2, which is available for $1.99, but nobody cares about that one, right? It’s all about the turkey head this weak!
If you’re one of the many who live outside of North America though, you’re sadly out of luck with this one. Maybe us European will get this one for Christmas…

Guess what’s on the PlayStation Store in Europe this week? That’s right, a lotta lotta LittleBigPlanet content; some of it is free, some of it isn’t, but having already checked them out on my own sackboy, they all look epic.
Also of note is a dem for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Alone in the Dark Inferno, and the original Theme Park on the PS1. All in all, a very good week for the Euro PlayStation store!

LittleBigPlanet is certainly something special, and has unquestionably created a new form of social gaming, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before… but it appears that its not catching on in Japan.
In a recent interview, SCEE Worldwide Studios VP Jamie Macdonald has expressed his thoughts on this new form of social gaming, and how it has been most popular in Europe, whilst Japan has yet to take to the concept with any really passion.
“I think… that the success we had in Europe with social gaming in the PS2 era was a surprise,” he said. “Nobody foresaw it, and what we’re trying to do now is to make sure that this whole new genre is catered for within future PlayStation developments.”
“It’s not that social gaming was ignored, it’s that it was a surprise to everyone – and also, to be frank, from our point of view it’s been more of a success in Europe than it has in Japan or the United States. It’s still been relatively successful in the US, but I think it’s fair to say it’s not had much of an impact in Japan.”
Curious results. One must wonder what it says about the mentalities going through the minds of people from different regions of the world.
