If you’re anywhere near as big a fan of LittleBigPlanet as I am, you are probably already salivating over the upcoming release of LittleBigPlanet 2. You’re also probably a huge fan of the game’s incredibly charming art-style.
You’re in luck then, because we had a nice large collection of high quality art assets and screenshots of the game for you under the cut.
Only those of you who are dead inside will be able to resist the urge to say “Aww.” after looking at these pictures.
After being rumored, then confirmed via Media Molecule’s twitter, LittleBigPlanet 2 got shown off today, giving us a flurry of new details.
I, like many others, were skeptical when I first heard of LBP2. Is it needed? Won’t it diminish the community built around the first one? What could it even add? Turns out, there’s quite a bit to add.
The press release tells us that just creating platform levels is old hat. LBP 2 will have the ability creating whole new game types. Just in the trailer we see a horizontal shooter, a space invader clone, break-out and bust-a-move clones, a cart racer, and a hamster racer, all created with the in-game tools. StarCraft II editor, you may have a competitor.
According to a twitter post made by Electronic musician Ochre, LittleBigPlanet 2 is in development. Ochre revealed that he has a licensed a song called “Infotain Me” to Sony for LittleBigPlanet 2. Given that Sony recently purchased Media Molecule, the franchise will be PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Media Molecule recently said that a sequel would be “counter productive”. It’s strange to see a sequel in the works, especially with the success of their DLC.

In an interview with Critical Gamer, Media Molecule has dismissed the possibility of a LittleBigPlanet 2.
But don’t be sad Sackboy lovers; the opinion of Level Designer Danny Leaver is that making a second game would be ‘counterproductive’, as it would more than likely fragment the well-established LBP community, so they do have our best interests at heart.
We think you’ll agree the post-launch support in terms of DLC and software updates has been absolutely first rate, and Producer Martin Lynagh says ‘that’s the way it’s going to continue’, which makes us very happy indeed.
