Seemingly out of the blue, Ubisoft has debuted a gameplay trailer for Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame HD on iOS. A 2D platformer with 3D models and backgrounds, it merits strong comparisons with Prince of Persia: Classic which was released on the format a year or two back, but is based entirely on the sequel to that game; Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame. [...]

Originally announced back in 2008, Ride to Hell was publisher Deep Silver‘s crack at creating an open-world biker game, but since then, very little was heard about it until recently. Now back in the public view, Deep Silver has brought not just one biker game to the table, but three; all spread between full retail, downloadable and mobile platforms.

The first commercial release from brand new Swedish studio Modesty, The Spookening is an intriguing little prospect for iOS and Android which casts you as Herman, an inhabitant of the apparently haunted Clifftown who, at the start of each day, finds himself deader than a door nail. In order to resurrect himself each night, he has to harness the puntastic “Soular Power” from the denizens of the town.  In order to do [...]

A nice little tidbit to come out of this year’s Game Developer Conference is the confirmation from Wargaming.net that they’re ludicrously successfully strategic tank battler, World of Tanks, is coming to iOS and Android. Created with mobile platforms in mind, the game will be called World of Tanks Blitz and will allow players to engage in 7-on-7 matches which have been inspired by the original World of Tanks on PC. Just hours before the game lands on the App Store at midnight tonight, someone has gone and plonked an half-hour long gameplay video for the iOS version of Final Fantasy V. Of note to franchise fans will be the visual makeover that the game has received.  Rather than a grass-roots conversion to 3D, the game will retain its 2D look but will do so whilst embracing new high-definition artwork and [...]

With a brand new entry in the underwater franchise not seen since 2000′s Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, the designer of the original 16-bit Ecco the Dolphin games, one Mr. Ed Annunziata, has stepped up to Kickstart a spiritual successor to the aquatic series.

One of the best games of 2012 and certainly, a vision of the RTS genre performing at its zenith, XCOM Enemy Unknown has now been confirmed to arrive on iOS later this year by publisher 2K Games. Best of all, this will be no cut-down version of the celebrated strategy title but instead will be the ‘full-fat’ experience that PC and home console owners have been savouring for months. The [...]

Blizzard had a new title to announce at PAX East today, and while it wasn’t a massive new core entry in an existing franchise or anything (PAX is too small a stage for a new core entry in a Blizzard IP), Collectible Card Game fans should nonetheless finding themselves leaping with joy. The new game in question is called Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and represents a CCG take on the popular Blizzard [...]

The studio behind the commercially and critically successful XCOM and Civilisation titles, Firaxis Games, has announced their next strategic foray; the freemium iOS strategy title Haunted Hollow. As the moniker suggests, Haunted Hollow marks a significant thematic departure for the studio.  Gone are the po-faced issues of world domination and alien invasion, instead replaced by haunted houses, cartoony ghouls and ghosts and all manner of charming things that go bump in the [...]

According to a Japanese report deciphered by gaming website Siliconera, Final Fantasy V will make its debut on iOS powered smartphones next week in Japan, with an Android version of the game following later in the year. If previous Final Fantasy games have been any indication, I imagine we’ll see with a western release later in the summer. Rather than a 3D re-imagining of the game from the ground up as evidenced by [...]
