Valve are one of those companies that take the idea of being Business Administrators and run with it for miles. More specifically, they are quite literally masters of it. Earlier this year, Valve’s employee handbook leaked onto the internet, but is now freely available on Valve’s own website. Online MBA, a website dedicated to business administration, have taken the time to focus on some highlights from the handbook and crafted [...]
Valve alpha male Gabe Newell has been toying with an idea for some time, but it finally seems that it’s coming to fruition. In regards to a pricing model for Defense of the Ancients 2 (otherwise known as Dota 2), Newell said that players will be “charged based on what they bring to the community.” That means that being a team player and getting along with your fellow defenders may [...]
In lieu of anything related to Half-Life 3 (or anything 3 for that matter), big (lulz) Valve bossman Gabe Newell has gone on record to say that he “secretly” (not so secretly) geeks out about My Little Pony. Of course, he’s referring to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the latest iteration of the pastel ponies, spearheaded by American animation legend Lauren Faust, whose works include The Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s [...]
According to a new report from The Verge, Valve, creators of Half Life, TF2, Steam, and other stuff you know Valve made already, are supposedly making a console. That would mean cloud based saves, sweet deals on a huge downloadable game marketplace, and Gabe Newell swimming in moolah.
Well, it seems like the hackers finally snagged some prized game. Earlier today, prominent digital distribution service Steam was hacked following an attack on the Steam Users’ Forums. News of this hack was released in a statement by Valve head Gabe Newell via the Steam service itself.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Gabe Newell discussed the potential for Steamworks to come to the 360. Portal 2 players on the Playstation 3 are already connected to the Steam network, and will start to see downloadable content for the game in September. However 360 players aren’t as lucky. Live has stringent requirements and restrictions placed on developers on how they release DLC for their games. Which means no updates [...]
Valve have announced that Team Fortress 2, their class-based FPS hit, is now free-to-play. Forever. The term “free-to-play” has evolved, but in this instance it means that you can play it without ever paying for the game. You will still have to pay for hats so that Gabe can have money to fill his pool, but as far as the game goes? Zilch.
Oh, Valve. If you were a woman, I would make sweet, sweet love to you. Alas, you are a company and that is more effort than I’m willing to put forth. You’ve offered us a free Portal 2 soundtrack and even thrown in a handful of ringtones for our phones to jingle those lovely tunes whenever it’s trying to alert us to something important. Download Songs to Test By: Volume [...]
Steam has pulled an Amazon and is now partaking in a “Daily Deal” where you can get a single title for a certain percentage off. If you’re like me and appreciate the virtue of patience, this is a godsend. As of right now, you’ve got a hair over 16 hours to grab Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising for a mere $5—75% off the regular Steam price. If you’re not sure how [...]
Damn yeah. Valve has finally revealed just how Steam is going to function on the PS3.
