I love Shadow of the Colossus. There it is. And I know a lot of you reading this agree with me. From the obsessed main character, the vast empty landscapes to the titular colossi themselves, it’s (in my opinion at least) one of the most awe inspiring experiences on a console to date. And we all know how awesome it would to have a next-gen upgrade of the game made available.
Well, so does Fumito Ueda, the game’s creator. For the release of God of War 3, the GoWar series are being ported to the PS3, completely remastered in 720p at 60 frames a second. Fumito Ueda wouldn’t mind seeing a similar combo pack for his last two games, Ico and SotC:
“I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I’ve been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users.”
Wouldn’t this be awesome? Having Colossus and Ico on the PS3, anti-aliased, upgraded textures, rendered in 720p? It would, wouldn’t it?
A new video for Team Ico’s latest title, The Last Guardian, appeared at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, and it looks absolutely beautiful!
You owe it to yourself to watch this

Team Ico main-man Fumito Ueda discussed with IGN today some of the basic mechanics behind the recently announced The Last Guardian title.
Interacting with the eagle appears to be one of the central aspects to the game. You’re free to touch the eagle whenever you like. Its reactions will differ depending on where you touch it.
There’s a care aspect for the eagle as well. You can feed the eagle and remove spears and arrows that have pierced it. Ueda feels that the development staff will have to take care to strike a balance and make sure the care aspects do not becoming a chore.
Yes, apparently that’s an eagle.
A new trailer from Fumito Ueda’s new game was revealed during Sony’s E3 press conference. The working title “Trico” has now been changed to “The Last Guardian”, but nothing new in regards to story or setting has been revealed.
The trailer was the same trailer we’ve seen previously, the little boy running around with a monster companion, solving various puzzling situations.
The difference between the two trailers was the fact that this one had been given a massive visual overhaul, sporting redefined textures and better lighting. In short, it looked absolutely beautiful, if just a bit too bright.
Michael cried, so at least he’s satisfied with the game!

This will be the best news you’ve ever heard, or the worst, but First Showing has just confirmed that one of gaming’s most praised intellectual properties, Shadow of the Colossus, is heading to the big screen.
The movie is currently being developed by producer Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, Scorpion King, the Interpreter) at Columbia Pictures. This isn’t so bad.
Unfortunately, it appears that Hollywood’s favourite fanboy, Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, and the upcoming Voltron and Masters of the Universe movies) will be penning the script. This isn’t so good.
Can they do faithfulness to one of gaming’s most loved intellectual properties? Our will it be completely destroyed in the transition to the big screen? It’s going to be quite a while before we find out, unfortunately.

Oh, it’s finally that time, folks… Team Ico are have finally announced that they are going to unveil their next game at E3. If you’ve ever played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2, then you’ll understand why this is a big deal.
E3 will apparently see a trailer and some gameplay footage, so you’d better be ready to be blown away, because Team Ico’s games have a habit of doing that to you.
Apparently, we may see some sort of mention of it at GDC as well (which starts in a couple of weeks), as Fumito Ueda has a keynote speech at the event.
Cross your fingers gamers and make sure your eyes are secure in their sockets, as they’re liable to pop out come E3 this year.
