In an announcement that will surprise nobody, the PSP is going strong in Japan right now – in fact, it’s currently the highest selling piece of hardware in the country.
Last week, the PSP sold over 37,000 units, with the Wii coming a close second with just 36,000 units sold. The PS3 comes in third with just over 27,000 consoles sold this week.
Full list after the break.
NintendoEverything just put out what is available on the Nintendo download network for DSi/Wii/etc. Take a look after the cut.
The Ace Attorney series proved to western shores in 2005 that a game in which you play as a lawyer could be not only fun, but downright awesome at times. Sure it had a tendency to be silly and extremely over the top, but snappy writing and simple and intuitive gameplay made the original game a joy to play. Sequels followed almost yearly, culminating in this year’s instalment: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
Well, the wait is finally over. Head to your local GameStop and grab Jirachi for your Pokémon Diamond, Pearl or Platinum game!
Hurry! This event only lasts two weeks and is in preparation for the release of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver (making way to your DS on March 14th).
Go! Go now!
Well, all-around genius and gaming expert extraordinaire Michael Pachter once again indulges us with his genius.
He told Industry Gamers that his $50 estimate for Natal was probably too low.
As for the DSi XL, he speculates that it won’t sell very well considering it’s only $10 less than a Wii system (and $20 more than a standard DSi system).
We all look forward to Pachter indulging us with his bottomless well of knowledge in the future.
The DSi XL comes out March 28th in the US and will come in three colors (red, black, and wine).
I for one am a huge fan of the Ace Attorney series, which puts a legal spin on a traditional graphic adventure game formula. It’s also incredibly fun to scream “OBJECTION!” into your DS’ microphone whenever you present evidence.
The next entry into the series, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is set to launch about right now, and so a launch trailer has hit the internets. This new entry puts you into the purple suit of Miles Edgeworth, Ace Prosecutor, as you search for clues and uncover murder mysteries in a new third-person setting. And yes, you can still shout “OBJECTION!” and “HOLD IT!” at the top of your lungs.
You almost never see Pokémon giveaways in the US so close to one another, but soon after the Pikachu-colored Pichu event is done, GameStop will be giving away the super rare Jirachi!
Jirachi has never been given away on US shores, but starting February 27th and going through March 13th, you can walk into any GameStop store across the country with your DS system and copy of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl or Platinum and use the Mystery Gift function to download Jirachi into your game!
Just in time for HeartGold and SoulSilver, too!
This special event Jirachi will come to you at Lvl. 5 and know the moves Rest, Wish, Confusion, and the very powerful Draco Meteor! Jirachi will also be holding a Liechi Berry, one of the rarer berries found in the current generation of Pokémon games.
In addition to being very rare, a player can trade Jirachi over to their copy of HeartGold or SoulSilver for a special surprise on their PokéWalker!
Don’t forget to pre-order your copies of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver at your local gaming store! They’re available March 14th!
Pikachu-colored Pichu is still available at GameStop stores across the United States! The promotion started on January 30th and goes through February 14th! So, if you’ve got a girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife who loves Pokémon, you can go together on Valentine’s Day! ;)
Pikachu-colored Pichu is not only rare, but unlocks a secret event when traded to upcoming Pokémon games HeartGold and SoulSilver–when you visit a shrine in Illex Forest, Spiky-Eared Pichu will join your party!
Spiky-Eared Pichu was featured in the Pokémon movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life, but can now be yours via this great event.
Pikachu-colored Pichu is obtained via the Mystery Gift function in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum and comes to you at Lvl. 30, with Volt Tackle, Endure, Endeavor and Charge as its moves and an Everstone item.
Don’t wait! You might not get another chance to get two rare Pokémon for such little effort! Grab your DS, DS Lite or DSi and head to your nearest GameStop store!
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver will be available March 14th, 2010 and if you pre-order a game at GameStop or Game Crazy stores, you’ll also receive a Ho-oh or Lugia figurine with your pre-order and purchase depending on which version you get.
Nintendo Europe has released details about their spring line-up for DS and Wii, confirming Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver for March, as well as Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth for February.
Red Steel 2 is scheduled for release in March, but no specific date is given. The game will release March 23 in the US, so a European release probably won’t be too far off.
Personally I’m very excited about Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for Wii and Miles Edgeworth for DS.
Nintendo seems intent to burn their early adpoters as they’ve announced that a new, bigger and better DSi is on the way. This DSi will have a bigger screen and a fatter stylus, as well as two hours of extra battery life. It will also be more expensive, due to its size.
The DSi LL, its official name, will launch with three available colours; dark brown, wine red and natural white. The Japanese version will have some DSiWare preloaded into the internal memory, but details about international launches are thin for now. A European release is confirmed, however.
What the hell Nintendo? Why release a bigger and more expensive version of your current handheld console?
Here are some interesting rumours that should excite fans of portable gaming. Nintendo released the DSi just this year, but already rumours are circulating that a brand new DS is in the works. Gossip has surfaced concerning a new DS generation, “DS2″, apparently a complete overhaul with some serious power courtesy of the Zune HD processor.
Nvidia has allegedly won a contract to provide Nintendo’s DS2 with Tegra chips, replacing the current DS’ processors with something a bit stronger. The new DS will also be backwards compatible, something Nintendo’s handhelds have always been a master of.
The biggest part of the rumours is that the DS2 could be arriving as early as neext year, which is a let down for all of those who shelled out for a new DSi. Whatever the status is on a new DS, Nintendo’s sure to keep their cards close to their chest for now. Though DS2 sounds a bit weird, doesn’t it?
Nintendo’s holiday lineup has been revealed, and the company is looking forward to a busy Christmas season, with plenty of third-party support and some first-party titles as well.
Notable games within the lineup includes Dead Space Extraction, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (try saying that five times fast), DJ Hero and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for Wii.
The DS sees the release of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Scribblenauts and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days among others.
Full list can be found after the cut.
5th Cell, the developers of upcoming DS title Scribblenauts, will be moving on to consoles for their next game.
In an interview with Destructiod, 5th Cell co-founder Jeremiah Slaczka said the company are “going to console next year”. The game will be another original title, but nothing else has been revealed at this point.
“We’ll be announcing that next year, and it’s another original title. We’ll still do DS, maybe, but we want to focus our efforts on original consoles.”
Scribblenauts is out right now in the US, and October 9 in Europe
UK fans of the upcoming Scribblenauts will have to hold out for their game a little longer, as the game’s release has been somewhat postponed.
While US gamers will be able to buy the game on September 15, UK gamers will have to wait a few weeks until October 9. This was confirmed by Warner Bros. via Eurogamer.
For those that don’t know, Scribblenauts is a puzzle game where you spell out words to conjure up tools in order to solve a given problem. The game is considered to be one of the hottest DS titles coming out this year.
According to figures printed in the most recent issue of Famitsu, Nintendo’s DSi handheld has now sold more than 3 million units in Japan,
Nintendo hit this impressive milestone fogire on August 2: the machine is currently sitting at 3,062,920 DSi units sold in the country.
The DSi went on sale in Japan on November 1, 2008, so this number of units in this short a time is quite the impressive feat.
