On first pass, Battlefield 4 seems depressingly like business as usual for the next iteration in the Battlefield series; a franchise that has notably been awarded its own, gold-crusted bi-yearly spot on EA’s FPS conveyor belt.  With the exception of those explosions.  Those explosions look mighty nice and all fancy looking.

With the penultimate Battlefield 3 expansion Aftermath now securely in the bag, EA and developers DICE are now being a little more forthcoming on what the final expansion for the game will entail. We’ve got those details for you and the appropriately batshit trailer after the break.

The next multiplayer expansion for Battlefield 3, titled Aftermath, has been given a release date and new trailer. The fourth expansion for the EA published and DICE developed FPS will reach the sweaty paws of PS3 Premium subscribers first on November 27th, with PC and Xbox 360 Premium subscribers following a week later on December 4th. EA‘s Battlefield 3 has sold a total of 8 million units across all platforms. That means 3 million additional units after its release week, where it sold 5 million units. DICE has just released a comprehensive patch on for Battlefield 3 on the PC. It’s quite a meaty patch, adding a more streamlined squad system, automatic Origin log-in from within Battlelog, and the ability to share your stats across different social networking sites. It also includes with a generous dose of bug fixes and balances changes, including (finally) a fix to the negative mouse acceleration problems that were plaguing many users.
