Tim Schafer, mastermind behind such games as Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, turned 20-years-old in the games industry today. As such, Tim has lovingly shared his rejection letters from Atari and Hewlett-Packard from back in the day, as well as showed us his correspondence with LucasFilm.

25 years ago on August 6th, 1986, a lone warrior descended into the dark recesses of the planet Zebes to battle insectoid bats, Space Pirates and the ultimate weapon; Metroid. So it’s with great pride and honour that The Gaming Vault celebrates the 25th anniversary of Metroid, and Samus Aran.

Oh, the days of our ventures in Red, Blue and Yellow where rumors were abound that we could get the ever-so-secret 151st Pokémon using Surf and subsequently Strength on a truck in the middle of nowhere. Such was an excellently crafted gag by Game Freak’s Shigeki Morimoto.

Wow, 15 years already? Seems like it, and Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA for short) is celebrating by giving we, the players, some extra bang for our buck with discounts and free stuff!

Happy birthday, PS2! Ten years ago today, Sony launched the PlayStation 2 in Japan. The console launched on October 26 and November 24 respectively in the same year.
