Seemingly out of the blue, Ubisoft has debuted a gameplay trailer for Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame HD on iOS.
A 2D platformer with 3D models and backgrounds, it merits strong comparisons with Prince of Persia: Classic which was released on the format a year or two back, but is based entirely on the sequel to that game; Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame.
No other formats have been confirmed at this point.
Given how well the original HD remake of the first game turned out, i’m pretty psyched about this. Anyone else feel the same?
You can find the trailer over yonder.

The Knife of Dunwall, the single-player DLC for last year’s critical darling Dishonored, has received a gameplay trailer today courtesy of publisher Bethesda.
Sticking players in the villainous shoes of the Daud, the titular assassin, it shows off not only the new locales that you’ll be murdering around in but also how your fellow AI companion assassins take care of business as well.
Take a look.

“THE APOCALYPSE HAS HAD AN APOCALYPSE”, booms the gleefully OTT narrator on the debut trailer for Ubisoft‘s forthcoming Far Cry 3 spin-off, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Doused in 80′s sci-fi neon and a veneer of dodgy VHS effects, the game casts the player as one Sergeant Rex Powercolt (voiced by 80′s sci-fi icon Michael Biehn no less), who has the unenviable task of defeating a massive robot army hellbent on ending the world and other unpleasant things.
It just looks like a tremendously fun and gloriously balls-to-the-wall parody of sci-fi cinema and Saturday morning cartoons from the 80′s.
Check out the trailer after the jump and sit there smiling like a giddy fool as I was. Read More »
Guess who’s back? Classic 90′s platformer Flashback is being given a new lease of life and a new lick of paint from Ubisoft who have today announced the HD remake for release on XBLA and PSN sometime later this year.
Being chiefly led by original creator Paul Cuisset, developer VectorCell has rebuilt the game in 2.5D using the Unreal Engine. So don’t worry, the action will remain locked to the 2D plane as per the original, the difference being that this time all of the models, backgrounds and effects will be rendered in 3D.
Talking about the return of the classic Amiga platformer, Mr Cuisset had this to say, “It’s not a reboot. It’s Flashback re-imagined,” describes the game’s official docs. “You’ll find everything you always liked in this classic that set standards of the genre in the 90′s, and brought up to speed with the 21st century technology and expectations.”
Naturally, we have the debut trailer, which you can find after the cut. We recommend you look at it as it looks visually quite stunning indeed.

Finally announced at last, Ubisoft has confirmed that Sam Fisher will make his Wii U debut with Splinter Cell: Blacklist this August alongside the previously announced versions of the title.
Nintendo has gone on to record to say that the Wii U version of the game will feature GamePad specific “enhanced gameplay features”, involving use of both the touchscreen and motion controls.
We’ve got an image after the break showing the GamePad being used as a snake cam to peek under a door.
Its all very swish.

For those unaware, Club Nintendo offers a varying line-up of downloadable games to those of you who have diligently collected the coins but just aren’t interested in exclusive Wii Remote Wrist Straps or Nintendogs Greeting Cards. This month is no different. The available games are solid titles, and it’s tough to pass them up. Check out the line-up after the break (or, you know, just look at the banner).

Those nice people at Amazon (the website – not the rain forest) have got a few decent gaming sales happening from now until April 14th at 11:59pm PDT.
I wouldn’t say the deals are staggering, but there’s still a nice selection of titles to peruse and grab up for anywhere between 10% and 80% off.
“But wait!” you might say. “80% off is DEFINITELY what I would call staggering!” Well, you just have to pay attention. Games like Shrek Forever After for the Wii and X-Men: Destiny are 82% and 73% off respectively, when they should really be paying people to play such rubbish.
I would say some of the prime targets on this sale would be Assassin’s Creed 3 (Wii U) for $29.99, Zone of the Enders HD (PS3/360) for $26.46, or various Skylanders bits for 33% to 50% off. Definitely a good time to grab some of those guys.
Anyway, check out Amazon’s Spring Outlet sale page for all the goodies, and have fun spring cleaning your wallet.
Small crew this week on The VaultCcast. Boge (Medium) is out due to a personal situation (and we send our best his way), and Youth Large is just a boner.
Still a fun podcast with plenty of discussion on PAX East and patient zero, some guys from League of Legends being dicks, Rock Band DLC ending, Bioshock Infinite, Gears of War: Judgment, Tiger 14, and plenty more!
