For some reasons people didn’t really take to Rock Band 3. It sold moderately well despite rave reviews all around, but those sales apparently weren’t good enough for Viacom who decided to sell the developer. Rock Band 3 was the music game genre’s last hurrah, it would seem.

It has now come to light that Harmonix was sold to investment group Columbus Nova for the low, low price of $49.99, less than the price of a recently launched video game.
