This Wednesday, January 19, 2011, there is going to be a big event in Europe, focusing around the Nintendo 3DS.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this event for news, however we’ve got what appears to be a slight leak, a la Jonathan Ross, who is slated to host the event.

Ross’ recent tweet seems to indicate that there may be a mention of Metroid during the event. Could this mean that we’ll be seeing a Metroid title showing up on the 3DS? Is this intentionally misleading us to divert our attention from some other awesome announcement? Are we misreading the conversation entirely? We’ll find out more on Wednesday, for sure, but that doesn’t stop us from wondering.

Visceral Games likes to take the scientific approach when judging the quality of their games. Unlike some other publishers, Visceral realizes that sometimes the reaction of those who are not the target audience are sometimes the ones you should watch most closely.

In the case of Dead Space 2, one of the most horrific, violent, and nauseating video games to be produced, the audience you would not sell the game to would be your mom.

Why is this? Well, remember back when you were a kid, and you’d see a commercial on TV for some violent movie, you could tell by the way your mom would roll her eyes and sigh that it was a good sign of a quality film that you had to see? It’s kinda like that. Your mom’s reaction is typically an indicator of if something is awesome (she hates it) or is a total suckfest (she loves it and wants to buy you one).

Visceral decided to take the time to showcase Dead Space 2 to a bunch of moms, some surely quite like your own. Each mother was disgusted, filled with rage, and reeked of disapproval. This was the signal that the game was 100% Awesomesauce. Read More »

Remember that really awesome Mortal Kombat movie trailer we saw last year? You know, the one with the real actors like Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade?

We’ve just got word that, while there won’t be a Mortal Kombat movie any time soon, the director of the trailer, Kevin Tancharoen, will be directing a Mortal Kombat web series. Confirmed cast so far only includes Michael Jai White playing Jax. No word on whether other actors from the original trailer will remain, however, as it looks like the series is still early in development.

There has been no confirmed release date yet, but shooting for the miniseries begins in February, and we’re expecting ten episodes in total. Read More »

Ever since the Wii’s launch it’s been seriously lacking in well designed story-based games for the core gamer. Really great Wii games are few and far between every single year.

And it seems Nintendo still hasn’t gotten the message, as Mistwalker’s upcoming RPG The Last Story is so far not set to be released in the West.
