According to Official PlayStation Magazine, a “Massive Sequel” will be announced in next month’s issue. Luckily, OPM has revealed a significant clue. The “Massive Sequel” is a racing game that may challenge GT5’s racing crown.

Straight from OPM, “We’ve seen a top-secret driving game that may threaten GT5’s racing crown. More next month – be excited.”

What it could it be? Could it be Motorstorm 3, Need For Speed, or Burnout?

Anyone who has been a fan of gaming for a while now is more than familiar with Insomniac Games, long time supporters of the PlayStation formats and creators of famous franchises such as Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet and Clank. If certain rumours are to be believed though, this exclusive support may soon come to an end.

A “trusted source” who spoke to IGN anonymously during GDC claims that the company intends to go multi-platform.

Existing franchise are, as far as we know, locked into exclusivity on the PS3 for now, but this does not stop the company from creating a new franchise for the other existing consoles, the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

Insomniac is refusing to comment on this rumour for the time being, but we’ll let you know if something comes of it. I personally would be extremely surprised if this turned out to be true.

Max Schaefer, CEO of Runic games, the developers behind PC Action RPG Torchlight, said that the game may be headed to consoles and that a “serious effort” is being put into the idea.

“We’re going to put some serious effort into it — pretty quick — getting ‘Torchlight’ onto consoles,” Schaefer said.

“There’s a lot of really cool things about the console world, too, that would work well with our game.”

For fans of Diablo and Diablo-type games, Torchlight is an excellent addition to the genre, especially since Diablo III won’t be seen on PC for at least another hundred years or so.

In what most people would believe is a sign of the Apocalypse, Lady Gaga is not only dominating mainstream media, but now making her way into video games. First it was LIPS, and now she’ll be appearing in a four-song DLC pack for Rock Band and Rock Band 2 on March 16th.

Not only that, we also have The Subways, Mute Math, 3 Doors Down, and the notorious Eric Cartman with his own version of “Poker Face” as seen on South Park.

You might remember this trailer for Deus Ex 3, which didn’t really tell us much of anything about the game. In fact, there’s no gameplay in the video. There’s really nothing in the video at all, except for some abstract… Stuff.

Well, we’ve got a new trailer for you, which shows off a little more than “stuff”.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see any combat in this trailer, either. But we do get to see what appears to be the main character having some sort of trippy, angelic dream where he flies into the sun and burns.

It’s unclear whether or not you’ll be playing as JC Denton or another clone of him like the previous titles, but the likeness is uncanny, so I feel it’s a safe bet that you play as another clone again.

With Sony’s many, many announcements covering the Playstation Move, we’re seeing more new titles being announced. One of the most recent announcements to come out of the GDC is a title called Slider.

We don’t know much about this title yet, other than the fact that it allows one to recreate my favorite fantasy: downhill office chair racing. We’ve got the few details we know after the jump.

C’mon, don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. Anybody who’s worked in a cubicle for more than two hours knows the feeling of wanting to take your swivel chair to the top of a really steep hill, sit down, and ride that mother all the way to the bottom, casting caution into the wind.

No? You’ve never had that fantasy? Well, you get to see what it’s like, anyway.

Slider is pretty much exactly what I described. You sit in an office chair and ride it down to the bottom of a hill.

What else is there to do? Well… Not much. There’s supposedly a story behind the game regarding mobsters. What mobsters could possibly want with a guy whose escape plan is entirely dependent on being on the top of a hill and having immediate access to a swivel chair. But then again, I don’t think anybody is going to play an office chair racing title for the plot. Or any racing game, for that matter. Was there a plot to Ridge Racer? I think it might have had something to do with impressing Reiko Nagase.

Hey, baby. Wanna go for a power slide?

The controls appear to be very straightforward. You tilt the Move wand (I call it a “wand” and not a “controller” because I think you look like a fairy with these things, but I digress) to tilt your suspenders-equipped salaryman and navigate through a crowded city. Presumably the goal is to simply survive until the end, but the game features a really heavy physics engine, so I think we’ll be spending most of our time on this game trying to see how far we can jettison Bob from Accounting into the sushi bar.

Well, here it is, folks. The next single-band installment from Harmonix, Green Day: Rock Band, has been announced for a worldwide release of June 8th, 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii consoles.

Green Day: Rock Band allows players to step into the shoes of the multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning pop punk band who continues to rock socks well into the 21st century.

In the game, you take on the likenesses of guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool to progress through the band’s story and history as you play the game (much like The Beatles’ iteration of Rock Band). In the media vault, players can unlock more than 100 images and over 40 minutes of rare and unreleased videos from interviews, outtakes and performances.

Green Day: Rock Band also brings back the three-part harmonies introduced in The Beatles: Rock Band and allows players a strong song list of 47 tracks including “Brain Stew,” “Jaded,” “Hitchin’ A Ride,” “American Idiot,” and much more.

All 47 tracks are fully exportable to be used in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the upcoming Rock Band 3, but only for the PS3 and 360 for a fee of $9.99/800 MSP – the Wii platform does not support the export feature.

In addition to the on-disc tracks, the six tracks already available through the Rock Band store can be played in the game with added three-part vocal harmonies, unique performance visuals, and exclusive archival material.

Honestly, this sounds like an excellent game with a ton of extra content. I really appreciate the time and effort that Harmonix has put into single-band titles, especially with The Beatles: Rock Band, a game that is as musically impressive as it is visually. I hope that Green Day: Rock Band is equally excellent, and the fact that the songs are exportable is a significant (and appreciated) added bonus. It really doesn’t feel like a throwaway title, much like the single-band Guitar Hero titles that Neversoft has created.

Green Day: Rock Band isn’t something that I’m personally going to get right away (maybe not ever), but it does sound like an admirable amount of effort has gone into creating this game.

Sony’s motion controller, PlayStation Move was formally announced today, and with it details are beginning to slowly surface. PlayStation Move will indeed launch this fall and with it, the support of over thirty-six publishers.

Got scared, didn’t you? Don’t worry, Sony announced during their GDC conference that Gran Turismo 5 will indeed release this year.

Unfortunately, a specific release date was not announced. On the bright side, it’s releasing this year. High-five? Anyone?

You could always play Forza 3.

There you have it, folks. At the Sony segment of the GDC, Sony has officially given “Arc” a name – The PlayStation Move.

Seems kind of like an obvious name for a motion controller, but I suppose it also succinctly explains its purpose.

The PlayStation Move will come bundled with a PlayStation Eye, a game and the controller itself for under $100.

In addition, PS3 games LittleBigPlanet and Resident Evil 5 have been confirmed to support Move functionality.  A new title, Sports Champion, will feature several sports-related mini-games for use with the PlayStation Move.

Fans of Lara Croft won’t have to wait long before being able to go on yet another adventure with the sultry archeologist.

GDC is well under way and Joystiq met up with developer Crystal Dynamics in order to discuss the upcoming title. The game will launch this summer as a download only, being released for PC, 360 and PS3. The full price of the game will be $15.

As confirmed last week, the game will be a top-down isometric, arcade-style co-op game, vastly deviating from the Tomb Raider series regular third person action perspective. Players will take control of Lara Croft and a Mayan spearman named Totec. Together the two will solve puzzles, destroy enemies, platform and, presumably, raid tombs.

Capcom has just announced the final character in the Super Street Fighter IV line-up, a new character by the name of Hakan.

Lets just say he’s… different, and leave it at that.

Square Enix has just announced that Final Fantasy XIII has shipped over 5 million units worldwide, with at least 3 million of those accounting for US and Europe figures, as reported by Andriasang,

The game has shipped at least 2 million units in Japan since its launch back in December, and by all accounts it looks like it’s going to easily eclipse that success here in the west.

This figure brings sales of the franchise as a whole to a whopping 96 million units in 20 years. Not too shabby.

Developer of the Rock Band series of music games, Harmonix, has announced that they are working on a new Rock Band game, Rock Band 3, due out in late 2010.

The announcement, which was made at an investor conference, and then later made public via the Rock Band Facebook page, promises to “innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again”

“Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!”

While I am very excited at the thought of more Rock Band, as any fan of the series should be, I am not quite sure what they can do to “revolutionize” the genre any more than they already have. Will number three have some groundbreaking new feature? Or will it be more of the same, with maybe a couple of features lifted from The Beatles: Rock Band, like harmonies?

Time will tell. Or, more specifically, Harmonix will tell. Most likely in some big E3 reveal.
