Well, here it is, folks. The next single-band installment from Harmonix, Green Day: Rock Band, has been announced for a worldwide release of June 8th, 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii consoles.
Full PR available here with more information and screenshots under the cut.
Those looking for a Wii HD, or just simply a successor to the Wii shouldn’t hold their breaths, because this is still a long way away.
In an interview with Forbes magazine, NoA boss Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed the Wii still has a lot of life time left in its system.
Developer of the Rock Band series of music games, Harmonix, has announced that they are working on a new Rock Band game, Rock Band 3, due out in late 2010.
The announcement, which was made at an investor conference, and then later made public via the Rock Band Facebook page, promises to “innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again”
“Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!”
It is a sad day today for the gaming world. News received from Data Max (translated by NeoGAF) indicates that the Japanese developer Cing, most known for Little King’s Story & Hotel Dusk, has filed for bankruptcy with liabilities in the region of 256 million yen.
The sequel to Hotel Dusk, ironically named Last Window, is currently being localised for release in the west. Here’s hoping that it will still see release, despite Cing’s current unfortunate circumstances.
If you’re an avid gamer, buy Hotel Dusk and Little King’s Story. Right now. They are both awesome games.
Kyle here with another edition of The Music Vault!
Last time we looked at Team Teamwork’s “Vinyl Fantasy VII,” a mash-up of hip-hop lyrical stylings and the music of Final Fantasy VII.
This time, we’re gonna have a look at the just-released music on Harmonix’s latest addition to rhythm gaming – The Rock Band Network.
In an announcement that will surprise nobody, the PSP is going strong in Japan right now – in fact, it’s currently the highest selling piece of hardware in the country.
Last week, the PSP sold over 37,000 units, with the Wii coming a close second with just 36,000 units sold. The PS3 comes in third with just over 27,000 consoles sold this week.
Full list after the break.
Well, if you follow RockBand on Twitter, you’re probably already aware that there’s some HUGE news on the way today, but if not, you’re getting it here, right now.
This could very well be the unveiling of the Rock Band Network, and I sure hope it is! We’ll keep you updated!
NintendoEverything just put out what is available on the Nintendo download network for DSi/Wii/etc. Take a look after the cut.
Disney executive VP and general manager Graham Hopper said that the decision of making Epic Mickey into a Wii-exclusive title was all based on the game’s potential.
Harmonix and MTV announced that more awesome tracks are on their way to Rock Band and Rock Band 2, including a three-pack from heavy rockers Disturbed, and singles from TRUSTcompany, The Mother Hips, and Silversun Pickups.
Well, all-around genius and gaming expert extraordinaire Michael Pachter once again indulges us with his genius.
He told Industry Gamers that his $50 estimate for Natal was probably too low.
As for the DSi XL, he speculates that it won’t sell very well considering it’s only $10 less than a Wii system (and $20 more than a standard DSi system).
We all look forward to Pachter indulging us with his bottomless well of knowledge in the future.
The DSi XL comes out March 28th in the US and will come in three colors (red, black, and wine).
Another one of the big games being talked about during Nintendo’s Media Summit was Metroid: Other M.
Nintendo could confirm the report from IGN Australia and dated Metroid: Other M for a release date of June 27 in the US. Unfortunately nothing was said of a European release date.
“When you finish playing this, you’re going to feel like you know Samus in a way you’ve never known her before,” said Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway.
That certainly sounds awesome. So mark your calendars for June 27.
Nintendo’s Media Summit went down in San Fransisco yesterday and among the big titles being talked about was Super Mario Galaxy 2. We’ve already told you when it’s going to be released, but the media summit also came with a bally load of trailers and gameplay footage, which we’re very proud to bring you.
I am a huge fan of the original Super Mario Galaxy and from just seeing the trailer alone I was even more excited. I dare you to watch the trailer without grinning inanely when Yoshi pops up! Super Mario Galaxy 2 seems to have everything: iconic music, inventive levels, Yoshi and giant space dragons.
When we received word earlier today that Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be released before Christmas this year, we didn’t think they meant quite this early… Nintendo has just confirmed at its San Francisco media summit that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be hitting stores in the US on May 23.
The release date was revealed by Nintendo of America executive Cammie Dunaway at the summit mere minutes before this story was posted.
So much for a “summer” release date. Looks like some of us will have a reason to get our Wiis out of the back of the dust closet a little earlier than expected.
SEGA’s been complaining a bit lately on the lack of a more hardcore audience on the Wii. So SEGA Australia is making one final ditch effort at sprucing up the sales of their mature titles by releasing a triple pack of their mature Wii titles.
“Welcome to Violence” is, according to SEGA, “a pack no self-respecting Wii-owning Aussie bloke should be without”. You gotta give it up for that Oscar Wilde-like writing!
The pack includes MadWorld, House of the Dead: Overkill and The Conduit and will be sold for AUD$110, which is equal to the price of a new Xbox 360/PS3 game in the US.
Will it work? Probably not.
