Posted by Michael O'Connor On June - 17 - 2010

We were on the E3 floor this year checking out Ignition Entertainment and Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Tango Down, and managed to spend some time talking to the game’s lead level designer, Michael Schorr, who was gracious enough to take a moment out of his time time to answer some of our questions.

Square Enix reveals its complete E3 line-up

Square Enix has just released a press release detailing it’s complete (to our knowledge) E3 line-up.

All the obvious titles are amongst the list, such as Final Fantasy XIV, Front Mission Evolved, Deux Ex 3, the gruesomely violent Kane and Lynch 2, and the recently announced Dungeon Siege 3.

The 3rd Birthday, a new instalment in Square’s old Parasite Eve franchise is also on the list, finally confirming its release in the west.

You can catch the full list below.

Capcom reveals its E3 2010 line-up

Capcom has just announced its official line-up for E3 next week, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect. The obvious big hitters are amongst the list, such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Dead Rising 2.

Don’t take this as a complete list though. This is E3, and E3 is all about the surprises. Capcom has already said that they will have “a couple surprises up our sleeves”. The biggest rumour going around right now is the reveal of a Ninja Theory developed Devil May Cry 5.

We can only hope.

Catch the line-up after the break.

New Vanquish trailer shows off gameplay, is insane

Gametrailers has just revealed the first ever gameplay trailer of Platinum Game’s Vanquish, and as it turns out, it’s just as insanely over the top and awesome as we’ve come to expect from them.

By the looks of it, Vanquish is going to take the kind of gameplay seen in third person shooters such as Gears of War, which we’re all familiar with… and cranks it up to 11! Super fast movements, bullet hell movements, and the kind of slick and instant reaction gameplay that made Bayonetta such a joy to play.

Platinum Games, you can do no wrong.

Hit the link to see the video for yourself.

Red Dead Redemption update due next week

Remember all those bugs that have been cropping up in Red Dead Redemption? Well, Rockstar has announced on its official blog that a title update will be coming for the game next week.

Apparently, it will sort out most of the multiplayer connectivity that people have been happening, the regular Mo Van Barr bounty bug that keeps cropping up, and other small bugs and problems.

As “a token of appreciation”, Rockstar will release the “Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant outfits and related challenges” later this year for free, on top of the Outlaws to the End DLC, which will also be releasing for free later this month.

But honestly, do we really want to lose the Cougar Man and Donkey Lady?

Red Dead Redemption holds top spot in UK charts

Red Dead Redemption holds top spot in UK charts

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Red Dead Redemption has maintained its top spot in the UK gaming charts for a second week running.

Other obvious contenders ranked high in the charts, with Just Dance and Wii Fit Plus still somehow maintaining their position in the upper area of the charts. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is sitting surprisingly low in the charts though, at number 8.

Sega’s Alpha Protocol and Activision’s Blur failed to enter to top 10 at all, entering the charts at 13 and 14 respectively. This is not entirely surprising though, considering the poor critical reception both games have received.

Red Dead Redemption suffering stock shortages in the UK

RRed Dead Redemption suffering stock shortages in the UK

Red Dead Redemption, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, is selling like hotcakes. So much so, in fact that, that supermarket chain Asda’s is suffering severe stock shortages, according to a report on MCV.

Asda is apparently not the only store suffering problems. Many other supermarkets and high street retailers, such Game and Tesco, are also apparently suffering shortages, specifically for the PS3 version of the game.

CVG believes the supply issues have been caused by a sunken cargo ship. Whatever the reason, you better run out now and get the game if you want to play it, or you may not see it for another few weeks, especially if you’re a PS3 gamer.

Rumour: PSP 2 in the works

Rumour: PSP 2 in the works

If an article on MCV UK is to be believed, the PSP, which has been with us for over six years now, may finally have an official successor.

According the site, the ever-mysterious “reliable source” has informed the site that their company is”s waiting on a specific announcement from the platform holder before it can reveal of its future PSP plans”

Apparently “two key publishers” are also expending their marketing spend on the format towards the end of the year, which anyone will admit is a surprising move to take.

This is all very vague and entirely rumour at this point, but I must say that if it’s true, now would definitely be the right time for the PlayStation Portable to get a new leash of life and finally move onto a new generation of hardware.

I guess we’ll all know the truth at this year’s E3.

Mario is one of those characters who needs little words, little introduction, and lets the gameplay do the talking for for him. That doesn’t stop this chonking 5 minute trailer of Super Mario Galaxy from being any less awesome though.

3DS may not actually be called 3DS

3DS may not actually be called 3DS

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has explained during investor questions today that the recently announced3DS, the next successor to the DS handheld, may not in fact going under the name of 3DS.

“Since we’ve stated that it will go on sale during the present term,” he explained, “I think the formal name will be made public in the not so distant future.”

Expect Nintendo’s plans for the 3DS, and hopefully an officially name to go along with it, to be announced at E3 in June. The Gaming Vault will be on the show floor this year when it happens.

Alan Wake 2 pretty much guaranteed

Looking forward to Alan Wake? Hoping there’ll be a sequel even though the first game hasn’t even been released yet? Then you’re in luck,

“Well, it’s certainly no secret that we’d love to make a second one if the first one does well,” Mikko Rautalahti stated Remedy’s officially forums. “But since the game isn’t even out yet, it’s really up in the air.”

Reviews for the game so far have been universally positive, with eights and nines from most major websites and magazines.
