Capcom held their annual press event this weekend, flying selected members of the gaming press out to Hawaii, and we here at The Gaming Vault were lucky enough to stay home and read about it when bigger, more popular bloggers twittered about it.

But while we didn’t get to witness the announcements first hand, we still get to bring all the latest news from Capcom to our readers!

Click through for a full list of news coming out of the event.

  • Without a doubt, the biggest news to come out of this event was the reveal of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Click here to watch and discuss the amazing teaser trailer for the game.
  • MvC3 wasn’t the only game announced, Capcom also revealed they are releasing Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2, a sequel to the update of the original NES game.  How does that work, does this now negate the Grin-developed 3D game, also called simply “Bionic Commando”? Or does it fit in between? Either way, you can see the trailer and write-up by Jens here.
  • Capcom showed off their upcoming zombie-slaughter game Dead Rising 2, sharing a few details, most importantly the fact that it will support co-op zombie chainsawing. Kotaku has a good write-up of the feature, as well as of the news that there will be some sort of prequel DLC named Case Zero,  similar to what EA was discussing a little while back. It will bridge the gap between DR2 and the original, and be a couple of hours long.
  • The DS sequel to the critically praised Okami, Okamiden, will be getting a western release in 2011, tells vg247. Hopefully it will see better sales numbers than the original, which didn’t fare well neither on the PS2 nor on the Wii.
  • Ghost Trick is the name of the new DS game made by the creators of the Ace Attorney series, and Capcom is finally showing off this new adventure title. The premise is that you have to solve your own murder, by possessing inanimate objects. It both sounds and looks familiar for any Ace Attorney fan, but that is exactly what makes the trailer so appealing to me.
  • Super Street Fighter IV will get a very robust online tournament system, but it wont ship with the game, instead it will appear as a free download on June 15th.

I will update this post if I come over more cool previews from the event, or if we post more about these items on the site. Did you miss anything? Let me know in the comments, or just let us know what you thought about these news snippets.

  1. These kind of summary posts are awesome Herman. You wanna do more of these in future?

Also, just how awesome did Marvel vs. Capcom 3 look? So stoked for that!
