Ahead of its official reveal tomorrow, the debut teaser trailer for Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag has been leaked and can be seen after the break in all its CG, gameplay-hiding glory.

Crucially, the trailer confirms three things.

Firstly, the new character that gamers will have to get to grips with is none other than Edward Kenway; the grandfather of Assassins Creed 3 main character Connor.

Secondly, its coming to next-gen consoles, as confirmed by the release date screen at the end of the trailer.

And lastly, well, it has pirates.  In a game.  An open world one.  I mean, can you remember the last decent game with pirates in it that wasn’t made by Sid Meier?

No, neither can I.

Assassins Creed 3 will arrive on PS3, PC, 360 and Wii U on October 29th, 2013.  Next-gen versions are tipped to follow soon after.
