Now how awesome is this?

In simultaneously celebrating the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter and the upcoming 25th anniversary of Mega Man, Capcom has announced plans to unleash a Street Fighter and Mega Man crossover title, called Street Fighter x Mega Man no less,  later this month on PC absolutely free.

Check out the rest of this story (and the reveal trailer) after the break.

Originally created and developed by Singapore coder Seow Zong Hui, the game itself plays very similarly to the Mega Man games of old with the titular hero jumping and shooting through eight different worlds and bosses all inspired by the popular fighting franchise.

Speaking on the announcement of the crossover, Senior Vice President of Capcom USA, Christian Svensson, had this to say:

“Our fans have been so supportive of the 25th Anniversary efforts on Street Fighter, that we wanted to provide one last surprise and token of our appreciation.  This game symbolizes the passion and dedication of our fans and with the 25th Anniversary of Mega Man coming up, we felt it was our duty to bring this wonderful experience to everyone who has shared the last 25 years with us and both of these celebrated franchises.”

The game will be available exclusively on community site Capcom Unity from December 17th.

I’ll say it again; how cool is this eh? Catch the reveal trailer below:
