It looks like that the next blockbuster on a Halo-like scale for Microsoft could come from their Vancouver based studio, today renamed ‘Black Tusk Studios‘.
If local Canadian newspaper The Vancouver Sun is to be believed, the upstart first-party studio is making the existing Xbox 360 its focus for the debut of this mysterious new IP, rather than next-generation hardware; an odd choice given the common shift to next-gen development which is occurring right now.
Catch the rest of the details after the jump.
Speaking to the newspaper, studio boss Michael Crump; a former EA minion, remarked that the average industry exposure of folks at the outfit is roughly “twelve years of triple-A game development experience”.
Commenting specifically on their development on the next Halo, he went on to say: “What that means is we are working on Microsoft’s next big entertainment franchise. We’re not working on an existing franchise, we’re looking to build the next Halo here in Vancouver, for example, which is really exciting. We are building something from the ground up.”
Black Tusk Studio’s status as a first-party developer also comes with the notable perks of being able to take advantage of the technology and knowledge-base of other first-party studios such as Turn 10 Studios, Rare and 343 Industries.
The studio is presently hiring too.
We’ll have more on this as it comes.
