When a game’s primary slogan/selling point asks you if ‘you’ve ever wanted to punch a bear IN THE MOUTH?’, you know you’re looking at something fairly special, or at least something horrendously deranged.
With a pixel-art style that intends to make us forget that visuals have advanced in any shape or form since the Atari 2600 and the sort of attitude that can only come from watching one too many ‘Powerthirst’ videos on YouTube, FIST OF AWESOME is a Kickstarter funded side-scrolling fighting game for iOS and Android that has you playing a vaugely redneck chap, shellacking all manner of woodland creatures with your bare hands as you go from stage to stage.
There’s additional details and an alpha video for the game after the break if you fancy.
With a funding goal set at £5,000 and with £375 raised with 29 days to go, its not unreasonable to assume that developer Nicoll Hunt, will achieve his goal.
There are various donation tiers as you might expect, but if you plonk down a fiver, that’ll be sufficient enough to score you a copy of the game on iOS or Android when the game releases in March 2013.
I’m not sure if the game looks like the sort that I would fork over that amount of money for, but the concept is amusingly overblown to warrant some investigation I think. Maybe. If it appeals to you though, feel free to drop your monies on the Kickstarter page here.
Take a look at the gameplay video below, taken from an alpha build of the game:
FIST OF AWESOME is tentatively scheduled to release sometime in March 2013 on iOS and Android devices.
