The original Final Fantasy III is hitting the PSP as a digital title next week on 9/25. Keep in mind this is the REAL Final Fantasy III that finally made it’s way to the US on the Nintendo 3DS and not the SNES Final Fantasy III which is really Final Fantasy VI. Thanks, Nintendo, for screwing up the numbering system for all those years.

Anyways, according to the PlayStation Blog, it sees a digital release on PSN and features an upgraded port of the original Nintendo DS title. New improvements include an option to switch to the original Famicom BGM, an auto battle system that doubles the speed of combat, and graphics optimized for the 16:9 PSP screen.

There is no word yet on Vita compatibility or even price. A reasonable guess would be $15-20, but given Square‘s recent iOS pricing, I’m sure the game will run $74.99 or something stupid. Guess we will find out on Tuesday!
