It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like Xbox is finally going to be getting a Free-to-Play game on Xbox Live Arcade. After sadly throwing in the towel with 1 vs. 100 and not coming through with their original plans for Joy Ride, it looks like the upcoming title Happy Wars will finally be a true Free-to-Play game. Well, as long as you’re an Xbox Live Gold member, of course… Read on for some more info!
News of Happy Wars, the newly revealed game from Microsoft Studios, was found over on PlayXBLA.com and the game definitely has the potential to be a lot of fun. Playable by up to 30 people online at once, it promises to be a crazy all out battle whether you’re playing against another team or united against a group of AI opponents. Choose from either a warrior, mage, or cleric and destroy everybody else. Warriors are, naturally, best at hand to hand combat, Mages specialize in offensive spells, and Clerics are suited for support roles to heal up team members.
A single player mode is also mentioned in addition to the frantic online battles, and there will also be a huge character customization selection so you can make sure your badass fighter is as unique as the pretty flower that you, yourself, are. Of course, as is the nature of Free-to-Play games, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some special customization options that require a nominal donation of Microsoft Points to the Castle Lords of Happy Wars.
More information can be found over at PlayXBLA.com including tons of details on weapons, skills, and customization as well as plenty more screenshots to salivate over! We leave you with a first look at Happy Wars with the debut trailer for the game.
Happy Wars is developed by Toylogic Inc. and published by Microsoft Studios and is scheduled for release sometime in 2012. The game is Rated T for Teen and there is no price set for the title at this time.
