Big Minecraft news arrived today from the Twitters Pages from Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson after he retweeted a post from Mojang business director Daniel Kaplan saying that the XBLA version of Minecraft has already sold 3.6 million copies. That 3.6 million number comes shortly after a July tweet from Notch saying the game surpassed 3 million sales.

Minecraft broke records earlier in the year when it became profitable within an hour of it’s XBLA release, as seen on this Joystiq news post from May. Add the recently announced 3.6 million sales to the already over 7 million PC sales of the game and it looks like this unknown gem might be getting the recognition it so richly deserves.
