During today’s Nintendo of Japan Direct press conference, long time Professor Layton developer, Level-5, has announced that their next game in the series for Nintendo 3DS, will also be the last to feature the titular hero.

The CEO of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, made the announcement that the title will arrive sometime in 2013, boasting all new conundrums and while it will be the last game in the series to feature the professor, it won’t be the last Layton game, since another character could conceivably take over the role.

Here’s hoping it isn’t Luke.  No, really.  It had better not be him.
