EA are going predictably sequel heavy at this year’s Eurogamer Expo as the mega publisher has today confirmed that no less than six games from its forthcoming release slate will be available on the showfloor for all and sundry to play.
The current list of playable EA titles at next month’s show include Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Crysis 3, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, SimCity and FIFA 13.
Of that selection, I’m most enthused to see Criterion Games Need for Speed: Most Wanted, as the game appears to bear all the design hallmarks to essentially make it Burnout Paradise 2 and just looks tremendously fun to boot.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter, looks in serious danger to be more of the same, po-faced, banally gritty FPS fare that the original was and thus, I can’t say I’m terribly excited about seeing it there.
Crysis 3 again, looks wholly uninspired and pretty much does nothing for me at this point; its half-hearted nod towards the sandbox gameplay of the original, combined with a Turok-esque jungle setting seeming like a case of throwing shit against the wall to see if anything sticks.
Dead Space 3 could be a nice little surprise, assuming of course that the game comes across as the horror survival thriller we all think it should be; rather than rolling around in the generic afterbirth of every other violent third person shooter before it which it will likely do.
Sim City and Fifa 13 meanwhile are games that while existing outside of my sphere of genre interest, nevertheless appear solid at what they’re attempting to do and should provide satisfaction for folks who have been following their development.
Ultimately then, EA are bringing a lot to the show floor for people to get their grubby, Pizza Express stained mitts around. There might not be a lot of ground breaking stuff there, but it looks like enough bases are covered that someone, somewhere, will find something entertaining in their varied offering.
The announcement of the EA line-up sits nicely along line-ups announced by other publishers which includes the likes of; Assassins Creed 3, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 6, DmC, Far Cry 3 and gorgeous JRPG Ni No Kuni. More are still to be announced too so if you’re even remotely interested in going, I would certainly grab a ticket now while you can by clicking on the image below:

If you like games and are living in the UK you literally have NO reason not to purchase a ticket, you slacker you.
The Eurogamer Expo is due to take place this year on September 27-30 at Earls Court in London.
