The developers of BlazBlue, that gorgeous 2D fighting franchise that I just so happen to suck horribly at, have today confirmed that another entry is in the pipeline for the series.

The dramatically titled BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, features three new pugilists; Azrael, Amane Nishiki and Bullet and like some of the previous entries in the series, the game is a refinement of the existing, and rather successful BlazBlue formula, rather than a full-blown sequel.

In addition to the trifecta of new faces, there are apparently new backgrounds, new tunes and a whole raft of balancing tweaks for each of the existing characters which are sure to give the hardcore ‘Blazers’ (I came up with that all by myself), weeks upon weeks of gleeful practising and/or impotent nerdraging.

BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma is due to release in Japanese arcades this Winter, with a home release on 360, PS3 and Vita platforms expected to follow shortly after.

Being the nice folk that they are, developers Arc System Works have released a debut trailer for the game which you can see below:
