With the September release date of the fifth entry in their long running fighting franchise rapidly approaching, publisher Tecmo Koei has today released a brand new tag team trailer for Dead or Alive 5; highlighting the newly announced tag team dynamic encompassed within the highly anticipated fighter.

The hyper-kinetic trailer not only depicts a veritable myriad of co-operative moves between partners (Virtua Fighter’s Akira and DOA’s Kokoro looking in particular looking harmoniously bad-ass), but it also doubles up as a confirmation that long-time Dead or Alive favourites, female wrestler Tina and Jeet Kune Do specialist Jann Lee are back in the action.

Visually, the Team Ninja developed title looks an absolute treat although the relatively subtle change in character design to make them seem less doll-like and more realistic is initially a tad jarring.  On the whole though, I feel the adjustment in character design is suited and certainly nowhere near different enough from previous games to get fans in an uproar.

Regardless, the game still looks visually impressive and the expanded tag-combo and improved juggling systems would seem to be a very welcome addition; ably complimenting the already smooth combo/counter dynamic that has long been a hallmark of the series.

There are, of course, huge bouncing breasts too.  Y’know, for anyone looking to tick that particular box.

Dead or Alive 5 is due to be released on September 25th in North America and September 28th in Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.  A collectors edition is also available for pre-order.
