Continuing the trend of popular scrapping franchises being adapted to the small-screen, comes the news from Comic-Con that Capcom USA and the superbly named Assassins Fist Limited, have put ink to paper to create a brand new Street Fighter TV series for the small screen.
Known as ‘Street Fighter – Assassins Fist’, the press-release blurb from Comic-Con indicates that this series is one of those terribly en vogue origin story type things, focusing on the early years of Ryu and Ken as they train in seclusion to master the skills that they would later be renowned for. To that end, I wonder if we’ll see them drilling jumping heavy kicks followed by low heavy kicks over and over; I mean, I guess the series wants to be at least semi-accurate right?
Anyhow, of much greater interest is the fact that the show is the creative labour of one Joey Ansah, who pretty much set the standard for small-screen fan adaptations of videogames with his chuffingly awesome Street Fighter: Legacy short-film that you can see below:
The series is due to arrive sometime in 2013 and while other details remain scant, a similar type of digital distribution through content partners such as Machinima et al, seems likely however.

This is going be a good adaptation for a web series well sort off as long as the makers get the job right Capcom will be producing so yes the story will based around Ryu and Ken training with Gouken to learn martial arts of the Assassin’s fist.
So there will be more news on this project and Machinima would get the rights for the web series.
