Ahh April 1st, you bring out the troll in everyone, whether it’s a simple “Look over there!” trick to lying about that prostitute you met in Vegas, what do you mean that wasn’t a joke? Stop laughing! Anyway, April Fool’s Day can bring out the worst in us all.
Over the years, it has become an international internet holiday in which many companies “announce” new products such as the “Vintage Edition” wood panel Xbox from 2008. This year is no different, so I’ve collected a few of my favorites, in no particular order.
Google Maps: 8-Bit Edition
Google decided to go balls out with announcements including Google Really Advanced Search, Google Tap, and Google Fiber. What really takes the cake is that Google is releasing their popular Google Maps on to one of the most well known entertainment platforms ever, the Nintendo Entertainment System. You can connect the cartridge to a phone line to utilize Google’s servers and start your own quest. Don’t forget to blow in the cartridge to fix bugs!
The hell of it is, you can try this amazing product out right now.
The YouTube Collection
Imagine owning all of the videos on YouTube in an offline format. That is what was promised today as you can order every youtube video ever made in a series of DVDs in The YouTube Collection. Finally, you can have all the stupid cat videos you could ever need, delivered right to your door. I’ve already ordered my collection, however it seems a bunch of other people have as well so my order has been delayed until June 16, 2045.
Toonami Returns
Right at midnight, as Adult Swim was going to air their regular anime lineup, something strange happened, viewers were greeted with the opening sequence of the Tommy Wiseau classic, The Room. This was interrupted by the familiar voice of Tom in his third incarnation (Tom 3.0) who proceeded to launch a block of classic anime programming such as Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, and Outlaw Star. Included in the broadcast were newly created bumpers to promote Bleach, the classic anime DVDs, as well as a review of Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect Cartoon Series Announced
IGN announced that Electronic Arts Television would be releasing a Mass Effect Saturday morning cartoon, from the creator of the cartoon adaptation of Watchmen. I can’t wait to see Wrex jam on his keytar and defeat the Reapers.
Assassin’s Creed for Kinect
This may be the one I’m most excited for. Finally a game to look forward to for the Kinect! This new Assassin’s Creed title looks like it takes advantage of some complicated motion capture. Who needs a third numbered installment in the franchise when I could be playing as Ezio forever. But as cool as all of that is, it looks like the Wii will finally have a useful peripheral, you can catch a glimpse of it in the final seconds of this trailer.
Rock Band: Board Game
Looks like we didn’t have to wait for PAX to start as Harmonix has already spilled the beans on their most innovative Rock Band game EVER. Finally I won’t have to lug all of my instruments to a random stranger’s house when I want to rock out! I have already drained my saving account to get my hands on this hot new game.
Think Geek sells Admiral Ackbar Singing Bass
This one just has to be seen to be believed.

I’m glad YouTube let me order my collection on BetaMax, the far superior cassette choice to VHS.
