Earlier today, Rocksteady Studios announced that the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City would be getting the Game of the Year treatment along with a new DLC pack. Quick! To the Bat-poles to get past the jump for details!

Like most other Game of the Year editions, Arkham City will include all previously released DLC which includes: the Catwoman Pack, the Nightwing Bundle Pack, the Robin Bundle Pack, the Challenge Map Pack and the Arkham City Skins Pack.

In addition to this however, the GOTY edition will also include the newest DLC, Harley’s Revenge, which will also be available May 29th (SEN), and May 30th (XBL) and will cost $10 (800 MSP). Also included is a downloadable copy of Batman: Year One (North America only).

One twitter follower of @arkhamcitynews asked “Will the DLCs be in GOTY’s disc or will they be redeemable via PSN/XBL?” to which they replied “on a disc.” I would still be wary of an unlock code for the Catwoman missions being included like the original release though.

The GOTY editions will be available in the US on May 29th, and in Europe September 7th.

Some people have been very vocal about the cover for this new edition. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments about that or anything else about this new edition!

When your quote is bigger than the title, you may have a problem.

    god, that cover is so ugly

    I feel like the whole debacle with the cover is unwarranted. No it may not be the best looking girl on the block, but the fuss around the score being larger than the “title” is completely retarded. The original boxart/ad campaign is/was always esoterically minimalistic. In fact, they could’ve got away without having a “title logo” anywhere on any of the boxart, and it would’ve looked better. You don’t NEED the title, people KNOW what it is, and it’s obviously not the selling point of this specific release.

    The game’s marketing was clearly done with artistic intention, and with that in mind – art is always best served OUTSIDE the box, and without things like “rules” dictating whether a title needs to be the focal point.

    It may not be for everyone, but there’s no way this thing won’t stand out on the shelf.

    @Sully Fisher, Interesting viewpoint.

    Personally, while I find this cover more a kind to a magazine ad, I will be getting this edition anyway. I have yet to play the game myself, and having this come out with all of the DLC as well as the Batman Year One movie makes it a sweet deal for me. It’s what’s inside that counts.

    @Sully Fisher, Eh, usually all the comments fellating the game end up on the back. Maybe ONE on the front, but Warner Bros. were just way too excited about the praise and got carried away.

    Why will it be out 4months later in Europe? Is it not June 7th?

    @Garry Reid, I’m sorry to say that the date is not a mistake and it comes straight from Rocksteady’s Arkham City page. UK: September 7th. http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/news/latest/item/226-game-of-the-year-edition-and-harley-quinns-revenge-announced#
