Mass Effect 3 will be have downloadable content called “From Ashes” available simultaneously with the game on March 6th. Fans accused Bioware that this DLC was part of the main game or they were working on this DLC during the development of the main game.  However, this is rumor is being dismissed as false and the DLC was created after the main game’s completion.

Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series, wrote on Twitter that the content producers for Mass Effect 3 ”completed the game in January & moved onto the [DLC].” The DLC has to be purchased for the standard edition but is available for free with the Collector’s Edition. Bioware announced that the “From Ashes” DLC will include a Prothean squadmate, a mission on Eden Prime, a new weapon, and outfits for other squadmates.
