If you love Indie Games and happen to be in the Culver City/Los Angeles, California area, this festival is for you. This is the only stand-alone Independent Game conference in America, the IndieCade Festival is also open to the public. In fact the arcade portion is even free.

There were 400 submissions to the festival, which means 400 games that are totally free to play and experience in their arcade. In addition to night games, video game themed installation art, there’s also an industry conference and awards.

The awards ceremony, held last night, announced the top indie games in several categories:

Gameplay Design: Deepak Fights Robots
Visuals: Superbrothers’ Sword and Sworcery EP
Sound: Proteus
Interaction: Ordnungswissenschaft
Special Recognition Award: The Swapper
Best Technology:   Johann Sebastian Joust
Community Impact:  Johann Sebastian Joust

But topping the winners was Fez which won Best in Show and Story/World Design, beating out thirty-six other contestants.
