Nippon Ichi Software of America (NIS America for short) has acquired the license to Black Rock Shooter, a JRPG on its way the PlayStation Portable.
For the uninitiated, “Black Rock Shooter” is a 50-minute original video animation (OVA) based on a song of the same name by the J-Pop group Supercell.
The premise behind the game is as follows:
2032 AD—Earth has been ruthlessly assaulted by extraterrestrials, and nineteen years of nonstop battle now threaten the very existence of humanity. The last hope for human survival is BRS, a heroine created solely to save planet Earth; she is the ultimate battle android. But when she is awakened to end the battle once and for all, there are only twelve human beings left on Earth…
The game has been released in Japan and, thanks to license acquisition, will be coming to North American and European territories. In addition to the game, the OVA has spawned two manga series, each taking place in its own universe.
There’s no date as of yet, but they’re working hard to bring the game as soon as possible. For slightly more information, here’s the official press releases from NISA.
