Team Meat‘s tough-as-nails Super Meat Boy hit it big last year on Xbox Live Arcade, and Team Meat announced today that a new project is underway.

In an interview with Eurogamer, the two-man development team confirmed that this new project was an “ambitious” and “more experimental” project than their previous game.

“I think it’s going to be more ambitious design-wise and it’s going to be more of a challenge for us. It’s a bigger project. It’s going to be fun and that’s exactly why we’re into it. It’s going to be pretty fresh,” Team Meat’s co-founder Edmund McMillen told Eurogamer.

“I think with the new game we definitely get a bit more experimental with the design.”

The guys could confirm they weren’t designing the game with a specific system in mind, but the 3DS has been ruled out.

“We said we’re approved as 3DS developers,” said McMillen. “We don’t have dev kits though—not many people do. At least that’s what we heard. Who knows, maybe they’re lying to us.”
