Whet your tastes for retro and WayForward games, because Nintendo‘s 3DS eShop is open! It took Nintendo long enough, and at the beginning there were connection issues (possibly due to traffic), but the launch is live and it looks good.
If you own a 3DS, make sure you System Update to gain access to the eShop and download your free 3D Classics: Excitebike and Pokedex 3D! Other such titles available from day one include 2010′s breakout sequel Shantae: Risky’s Revenge (Which even got its own “trailer“) and even a download version of Plants vs. Zombies.
Another anticipated function is the eShop’s Virtual Console, kicking off with Super Mario Land and Alleyway with additional titles depending on your region. The quirky features of the 3DS Virtual Console have even already been explored to great length!
The eShop even has listings of what 3DS games are out and are to come. The lists are sparse now, but perhaps Nintendo’s E3 conference can fill them out a bit.
