If you missed our last story on the indie game, Hawken, you’re in luck, because we’ve got a brand new video of Adhesive Games‘ mech-based first-person shooter. Go watch the original video first, and let the amazing detail of the game’s character and level design soak in.
This new video, shows off some actual gameplay as you would expect to see it while playing the game, from the cockpit of a fully-loaded mech. We also get to see a variety of different weapons we’ll get to use, as well as the different mechanics of the mechs’ movement.
While the movement appears to be rather clunky (as any mech game is), there is a certain fluidity that adds some beauty to the way these mechanical goliaths jet across the futuristic stages.
While I am absolutely blown away by the detail that has gone into the stage and the intricacies of the mech’s cockpit, what really gets me are the weapons. There is a certain satisfaction I get when I hear the impact of those explosives crushing the enemy mech into smithereens. Also, the minor things like seeing small cars and other debris being crushed under the feet of other mechs as they trample through the city are also impressive.
Aside from your mech’s own weapons, we get a sneak peak at some other weapons in the game, such as standalone turrets, as well as what appears to be a giant mothership that rains fire down upon your enemies (which appears to be a pleasant spin on Call of Duty’s harrier).
But don’t take my word for it. See for yourself.
Hawken is still in development, and has no posted release date. The developers have not announced what platforms the game will be released on, however they have expressed interest in bringing the game to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

*picks his jaw up off the floor*
@Michael O’Connor, No kidding. This is one of the most visually impressive games I’ve ever seen. I just hope that Adhesive Games doesn’t use up all their resources too soon in the development, and that any additional maps/mechs are equally detailed.
Good lord.
Day one purchase.
If this game has destructible/semi-destructible environments, it’s going to be absolutely INSANE.
@Kyle Gaddo, OH MAN, THE SPARKS IN THE COCKPIT.
AWESOME.
@Kyle Gaddo, *Listen* to this video with a good pair of earphones and the bass cranked up.
@Michael O’Connor, The BBBBBWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM when the mothership arrives is intense.
