It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen an SSX game. The last one, SSX Blur, was released on the Wii and was not well recieved by SSX fans. But it looks like EA is attempting to breathe life in the almost forgotten franchise
According to superannuation’s Twitter, EA has registered domain names related to “SSX First Descent” and “SSX Deadly Descent”. Granted, this doesn’t mean anything. Publishers register domain names all the time and never use them. We might never see an SSX game with these names. But who knows?
Rumors are going around that Criterion will head the development of these two games. Famous for developing the Burnout franchise and the upcoming Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, it should be interesting to see a developer like Criterion work on something so different than what they’ve done in the past. That is, if these two games are being worked on at all. But no matter if this will turn out true or false, If you’re an SSX fan then this should be a shining light in the dark tunnel of ‘No Good Snowboarding Video Games’.

It’s about damn time.
There was a time when this was considered one of the “king” franchise in gaming. Oh, how times have changed.
