Oh, the days of our ventures in Red, Blue and Yellow where rumors were abound that we could get the ever-so-secret 151st Pokémon using Surf and subsequently Strength on a truck in the middle of nowhere.
Such was an excellently crafted gag by Game Freak’s Shigeki Morimoto.
But now, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the original Pokémon Gold and Silver, Nintendo is allowing players all over the world the opportunity to get the elusive Mew into their game, and all that’s required of them is a WiFi connection on their handheld!
From October 15th to October 30th, players can use their Mystery Gift option on their HeartGold and SoulSilver versions to receive Mew.
Mew will come at Level 5 packed away inside a Cherish Ball with a Premier Ribbon. One big stipulation is that you have to have fewer than three Wonder Cards to get it, but as long as that’s the case, Mew is yours!

Hot. Downloading the moment this is available.
@Michael O’Connor, Samesies. I jumped on the chance to get a Shiny Pichu (to later get a Spiky-Eared Pichu).
I love when Nintendo give away their rare dudes like this. I hate having to go to an event or a store to make it happen.
This was a problem I had with the Jirachi giveaway. There are so many more opportunities with Mystery Gift.
HOLY CRAP SO GETTING THIS DAY ONE HOW COME I DON’T HAVE WIRELESS INTERNET AT MY STUDENT FLAT THIS IS SO AWESOME!
Awesome. That makes for two Mews on my current gen and last gen Pokémon games. :D
