Craig Canessa, project director behind Battle.net, spoke at GDC online in Texas and said that the next StarCraft II installment won’t be with us for another 18 months.

Canessa said that trading, broadcasting replays and upgrading profiles are “a main area of focus we’re going to be seeing on the Starcraft [II] side over the next 18 months between now and Heart of the Swarm.”

That puts the second installment at about March or April of 2012, but we feel it’s likely to get a summery release like Wings of Liberty.

Blizzard also made sure to mention that there’s no reveal for Heart of the Swarm at Blizzcon this year (via Gamespot).

At this rate, Legacy of the Void, the third installment, will be out in 2014 or 2015.

At least there’s Diablo III to look forward to.
