Well, ain’t this a co-inky-dink. The developer for the latest scheme in stealing, the guy who made the PS3Jailbreak software, is urging potential buyers to get their thieving software straight from the source and not from “imitators or Chinese knockoffs.”

For the unaware, this PS3Jailbreak software comes preloaded on a USB stick you can purchase and use to make backups of Blu-Ray DVDs and play home-brew games right on your PS3.

Digital Foundry (on Eurogamer) has an excellent read on the subject, so I suggest that you take a trip over there and read the article.

Funny how all it’s going to take is one update and anyone who spends the $130 this guy is asking will have been better off flushing their money down the toilet. As far as the industry itself goes, Sony has yet to make comment of the situation.

As always, we here at The Gaming Vault urge you to play paid-for games – new, used, borrowed – it doesn’t really matter to us. Support the industry and the developers who put their efforts into giving you home entertainment.

Stupid people are a very marketable demographic. The PSJailbreak crew are just good businessmen. Sure, their product is about as useful as a raw egg without a shell (limited uses and will go bad after a while), but hey, if they can sell that egg, more power to them I suppose.

You’d be able to play homebrew games, which you can’t do at the moment. It isn’t about stealing, it’s about making the platform open source equivalent.

@Therese, Except open-source implies that it is *freely* available for anyone to use as they see fit.

The issue being presented in the article is that the hackers are being hypocrites by telling people to buy something from it’s original source.

It’s not that the software is open source, it’s that it makes the machine an open source platform. I’ve checked the price, it’s not unreasonable for what it would enable a person to do.

Yes is awsome that ppl have now jailbreak and you have the credit for that but is a rape selling 130$ each usb jailbreak when in the market you can buy for 23$. Of course ppl will buy the cheaper, thats the reason ppl want jailbreak dont want to spend too much money on games when you can have it for less. If you deliver a better service with competitiv prices i think you will start getting more money. If you make the first time machine, other guys can sell it too for less money if they want. You can produce and sell what ever you want and what price you want… Capitalism…
