1960s through 1990s had me frothing at the mouth. Lots of excellent tracks brought in from Jimi Hendrix to Faith No More and several other artists from those decades round out a really nice section of the set.
I, however, am completely underwhelmed by the set from the 2000s. A lot of these bands I’ve never even heard of. Juanes? Poni Hoax? Ida Maria? Who the Hell are these artists? I feel like I’m 50-years-old when I read some of the names. I can barely even recommend good songs from that list except for the Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures tracks. I guess I’ll be checking them out on YouTube. And it looks like I hit it dead-center with the Pretty Girls Make Graves track.
I’m damn frustrated that roughly 1/3rd of the list is more recent stuff (probably most of it which I will hate since I am incredibly elitist and would’ve hoped for a more even split), but I am confident in Harmonix’s abilities to appeal to a wide audience.
Still, I could’ve done without Amy Winehouse.
Rock Band 3 drops for the PS3, 360, Wii and DS on October 26th! Make sure you get yours!

Dude, you haven’t heard about Ida Maria!? She’s awesome! And Norwegian. :P Though I agree about Amy Winehouse. Why is she in a game called “Rock Band”?
@Jens Erik Vaaler, I dunno, man, I consider myself pretty “in the know” when it comes to music and I’m lost when it comes to most artists from the last decade.
I always said I was born in the wrong decade.
@Jens Erik Vaaler, Ida Maria is meh.
Amy Winehouse, even less than meh, to say the least.
@Herman S. Lilleng, FUCK YOU, MAN! SHE WAS ON LENO WITH HUGH JACKMAN!!!
@Jens Erik Vaaler, Oh, so clearly that makes her a good artist. =|
@Herman S. Lilleng, ‘Twas a joke, man. :p I think she’s a good artist.
The Beach Boys – Good Vibrations (Live)
David Bowie – Space Oddity
The Doors – Break on Through (To the Other Side)*
James Brown – I Got You (I Feel Good) – Alternate Studio Version*
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Crosstown Traffic*
The Who – I Can See for Miles
Uuuuuuuuh…. *orgasm* That entire 60′s selection is like a lesson in GOOD MUSIC!
Harmonix, you people never cease to amaze me. Never stop being awesome.
@Michael O’Connor, Yeah, save for a few tracks in the first four decades, I am very impressed.
Could’ve done without listening to another Whitesnake song in my life, but I figure that’s a fun enough track.
Ooooh shit, Free Bird is back!
“Echo & the Bunnymen – The Killing Moon”
Oh my goooooooooood! *dies and goes to heaven*
@Michael O’Connor, Who?
@Jens Erik Vaaler, English post-punk band that is very popular in the goth scene. Never expected to see them in Rock Band, but then, I was surprised to see Siouxsie and the Banshees being released DLC as well, so there must be a few goth aficionados at Harmonix.
This is the particular song they’re adding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX1PwkgwsG0
Under blue moon I saw you… *sings*
@Michael O’Connor, Yes, I can see why they’re popular in the goth scene. Very Cure like.
