Inception is currently playing in cinemas all over the world, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the big stars of said movie. You might also know him as Tommy from 3rd Rock From the Sun. But did you also know he’s something of a gamer? Revealed, of all things, on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Some of the video is the two of them talking about being a child actor, but skip about two minutes in, and Levitt mentions buying a Street Fighter II arcade cabinet as a kid. He even calls Mortal Kombat and Tekken bad imitators, with all flash and little substance. It’s a really cool little interview.

  1. You can totally tell that half of Joseph’s points went completely over the presenter’s head. The presenter seems to be sitting there thinking “What? Video game’s require skill? But they’re just toys!”

I have to admit, Joseph Gordon-Levitt seems to be a far more perceptive and intelligent individual that 90% of individuals in Hollywood are. You get the impression that his excitement is genuine, and he knowledge, geeky as it is, is well educated.

@Michael O’Connor, Agreed. In X amount of interview I’ve heard actors go “Oh, I’m a fan, I play video games all the time”, when all it means is they’ve mostly been sticking to the most well known games there are like Halo and Modern Warfare.

    “You compare it to chess?!”
