While we all love Valve, the games they make, and the things they add to said games, we’re still waiting for them to wrap up the Half-Life series. And another nail in Half-Life 2: Episode 3′s coffin has just been pounded in.

After Valve’s E3 event was canceled last week, speculation began on what Valve’s “surprise” might be. But according to fansite Halflife2.net, Valve boss Gabe Newell sent out a PM to a staff writer to simply say “it isn’t Ep 3″.

There was also a supposed teaser image leaked online last week, which Newell quickly stamped as “fake“. Speculation may continue on what the surprise might be.

My guess is a full on Half-Life 3, since the end of the saga has to be so epic it can’t be contained in a single episodic video game.

@Herman S. Lilleng, I still think it could be Half Life 3. An updated Source engine, with a story that continues on from where Half Life 2: Episode 2 left off.

It’s been about since Half Life 2. The franchise is mega huge. The company is going out of its way to put together an E3 conference. They wouldn’t do that unless they had something supernatural to reveal to the world.

@Michael O’Connor, Not denying it could be HL3, I’m just rubbing it in that I called the picture itself as fake, when both you and Jens had linked it to me. <.<

@Herman S. Lilleng, I merely linked you the article. I never claimed it was real. So there.
