Halo 3 finally hits Xbox Live Games on Demand

Readers of Guinness World Records have voted on the all-time Top 50 Video Game Series, and the results have come in. And the top 10 are absolutely no surprise to anyone.

The list will be featured in the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer’s Edition, which will in turn list all titles created for each series.

“We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition,” said Guinness gaming editor Gaz Deaves.

“Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves.

“We are confident that this ‘top 50′ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics.”

It’s just too bad the “average gamer” seems to prefer Halo and CoD over anything that’s actually, y’know, good. And what the hell is Smackdown vs. RAW doing on the list? At least Chrono Trigger is there, which is a plus.

Check the full list after the cut.

    It’s a buncha fuckin’ bullshit if you ask me.

    Damn popularity contests.

    “As voted by readers.”

    @Kyle Gaddo,

    Really, this is shouldn’t be a “most popular of all time” list. This should be a list by casuals, for casuals.

    @Kyle Gaddo, At least Legend of Zelda made it to 3rd. But yeah, the list underwhelmed me too.

    @Jens Erik Vaaler,

    “Underwhelming” isn’t exactly the word I’d use to describe this list.

    This list is an abomination.

  2. Beth says:

    It’s absolute BS, but is anyone else surprised?

    Suikoden should be on that list. O_O

    Kyle Gaddo   [ 22:04, May 6th, 2010 ]

    @Beth,

    More importantly, Suikoden II.

    @Kyle Gaddo, I love the entire series, but yes, especially that one.

  3. Samuel says:

    The list is a bit broken, but there are some real gems there. I mean, who doesn’t like goldeneye?

    Jens Erik Vaaler   [ 17:04, May 7th, 2010 ]

    @Samuel, I love GoldenEye, but how is it a series? Sure, there’s “GoldenEye: Rogue Agent”, but that had nothing to do with the original game.
    It might as well have been called by what it really was: Generic Shooter # 5286

  4. Espen Gabrielsen says:

    No Baldur’s Gate or Neverwinter Nights? Meh.
